as in what footballers when you were growing up did your parents tell you about in great detail?

when i was a kid , my dad always told me about John Mcginley(Bolton) and remembered Sam Allardyce when he was a player at Bolton as well

My Mom always goes on about Trevor Francis and Bob Latchford (Birmingham City)

And my Dad always goes on about Paul McGrath (Aston Villa)

They both also rave about Brian Robson (Man Utd)

Jesus you make me feel proper old !!

My dad’s favourite player was Eusebio and bizarrely enough he came to our neighbourhood and played in a charity match at Bolton Wanderers ground ... sadly I was about 9 or something and I don’t recall anything about him or the game .. I’ve since heard that whilst he played for nothing it cost Bolton a small fortune to insure him for that one game ..

Don't know about specific footballers but my mum and dad were fervent Manchester United supporters.

I follow my boyfriends team. Wigan Athletic
