...as much as I find nothing to admire in Boris as a person and as a leader...Jeremy must look to himself as one of the prime reasons that the Conservative party have been ‘unstoppable’...

If they pick a decent leader, and lose some of the hard left feel, they will get back in power, the number of people I have listened to phoning into radio programmes this morning who are Labour voters who reluctantly voted Tory because they voted Leave and felt they had no other choice as they weren't listened to, Corbyn should have picked a side, leave or remain, rather than the wishy washy notion of another referendum kicked down the road

I'd get this if we hadn't just lived through hard right tory ideological austerity that's ravaged the country, and an extreme universal credit/disabled work assessment policy that's forcing people into suicide. Personally, I don't see anything particularly hard left about helping those people as opposed to the super wealthy who are positioned to make a literal killing from brexit. But yeah, Corbyn was a disaster on his brexit stance.

Brexit had an impact but Corbyn couldn't win no matter what he did or said, people turned against him.
How fickle when he was loved when he first became Labour leader, even his son was praised and I didn't know anything about his son.
I knew it was too good to be true , I knew they'd turn against him but the hate campaign was worst than ever:bored: .
It makes no difference who becomes the next Labour face ,as they can't win. People already make up their minds .

It hurts the country to have a weak opposition. There's no one to truly stop the Tories doing anything they want. Labour wouldn't listen, Corbyn wouldn't listen, Momentum wouldn't listen... I hope they pick a decent leader next time now they realise most people don't want a hard Left government.

That's one thing about the huge majority... the Tories have gotten very comfortable palming anything that people don't like off on other parties or other aspects of government. Even if Corbyn is actually the most perfect person ever and the ideal PM .. most of the country don't agree, as shown by the election.
"I will not be leader for the next election" and "I'm stepping down as soon as is feasible" are two completely different things.
I hope he's not gonna keep the seat warm until the run-up to the next election. We can't have Labour stagnate under him. The sooner he's gone the better, for the Party and country. All governments, especially this one, need a strong opposition.
Who knows, if there's a strong Labour leader who keeps Boris on his toes for a few years, they might swap places for the following election! But no, we'll probably get one of the insufferable Corbynites who are always in the media representing Labour...

i hate to break it to people, but the corbyn ethos is saturated into the party. It's going to take a lot to dislodge it. I very much doubt labour will be any different in 5 years time. Really, it depends how well Boris does, if he is successful, look forward to 20 years of tory government, if he is not, all bets are off. I think it’s for the best unfortunately, the damage has been done, the party doesn’t need to move to the center though, they’re fine where they are, their policies are great and progressive, they need someone new, to fight for them for the next couple of years, however, let’s not fool ourselves, the next leader will be attacked just as much because the billionaire owned msm has seen that it works in their favour, it won’t stop with Corbyn, they’ll find some other tactic to take down the next one, why run a fair campaign when you can con (pardon the pun) your way into power?

It’s much more complex than you seem to think...and how do you know a Labour gov for the past 10 yrs would have fared any better?
The Welsh NHS is in a much worse state then the rest of the UK's, and it has been Labour run since 1999....
The last Labour gov left a mountain of debt that the Tories had to sort out, as per usual. You also have to factor in the deluge of immigrants and an aging population that are putting the NHS under terrible strain. No gov wants to be deliberately evil to their citizens, to think so is just nonsense.
Let’s see what the Tories can do about it this time around before we damn them.

how do you know they are doing their best?

Where does the funding come from?
NHS Wales Funding
NHS Wales receives the majority of its funding from the Welsh Government. This takes the following forms:
Revenue allocations to local health boards to secure hospital, community and primary care services for their resident populations
Capital allocations to local health boards and NHS Trusts for operational and strategic capital developments
Targeted funding for health improvement and other Welsh Government initiatives.
While funding comes from Westminster, the Welsh Gov decides where it is allocated, it may not be used to boost their NHS suffciently.

Hard to make decisions that won't in some way be conceived as poor when they are not given the funds to allow all facets of the NHS to run as they should and are instead having to pick and choose what the pittance of a pot they get is spent on.

......I agree, the heart and soul of the NHS is still there in many ways and clinging on because so many staff, don’t work ‘for a salary’...they work for a belief...like your mum, I’m one of the fortunate ones, Liam...in that my care was amazing...but I do know others whose experience has not been the same..or even nearly the same, sadly...at what is some of the most terrifying times in their lives and I know that many NHS staff feel so deflated about what’s happening around them as well...the NHS service has been such a pride, such an ideal that other countries have never achieved in the same way...it really has been the perfect example of the Great in Great Britain...we have something that has always been the best in the world for our parents, our grandparents etc...and it’s something that our children deserve to experience as well...but the image that Boris was shown of that child, paints an entirely different NHS under a Conservative rule...
...I’m not a Jeremy Corbyn fan, I will say that...I never have been...but him being the wrong person to lead the country, doesn’t make Boris any less wrong, is the thing...two wrongs do not make a leader that we deserve...
The tories have spent more and added more debt, but the bit in bold gets to the crux of the matter. Enjoy your weekend.
...I recall reading some articles during the Windrush scandal...that some people were being denied healthcare ...I mean, all of a sudden it was...oh no, sorry...you’re not entitled, we need to investigate this or whatever...so, ‘immigrants are devouring our NHS resources..’...makes no sense at all...the world is full of ‘truths’, we’ll just all find the ones we gel with the most, I guess...
...I’m not a Jeremy Corbyn fan, I will say that...I never have been...but him being the wrong person to lead the country, doesn’t make Boris any less wrong, is the thing...two wrongs do not make a leader that we deserve...
That's why I couldn't bring myself to vote in this election. To actively support any of the offerings is to lend my endorsement of them, and I'm not going to do that.
I think we are stuck in this rut for at least another 10 years now., but I look around the world and don't really see a better option. For many of them, the cracks are already showing, or they are frantically trying to paper over them. It's a pretty grim time

I do feel a little sorry for Corbyn ,but imo,he should have put the country first and stood down ages ago as it was clear he wasn't well liked or he should have taken the complaints about the antisemitic accustations seriously and got his views on Brexit out in the open
I think he started to believe his own hype tbh, he didn't realise how unpopular he was outside of the London bubble and social media. All he saw of the rest of the country was his rallies.

Because my mum has been in and out of hospital all year, she’s currently been in for nearly a month and they’ve done a great job with her, the nurses couldn’t be more helpful if they tried, their funds are appalling, but the heart and soul of the NHS is still there, they do what they can, with what they’ve got, I can only imagine what they’d be able to do if they received the funding they deserve
as has my mum and her care in a brand new hospital was ok - i have no idea what funds the nurses got aas i am sure you dont know either. what I do know is that there was a lot of crazy money wasted on drugs she did not need and trying to get information from staff was nigh in impossible. the hospital has a starbucks.

I was always well aware that Labour were probably not gonna win, but that doesn't change anything for me, I don't vote based on other peoples opinions. I was still surprised by how large a margin the Torys won by given what they have done these past nine years, but I guess the truth doesn't matter to people anymore, they just eat up what the Sun, Mirror and Daily Mail tell them. Saying that, they always have done, the only time Labour won was when the red top newspapers put their support behind Blair. It seems what ever Murdoch says, goes.

...the whole truth and nothing but the truth..?..seems to read that the application has not been ‘formerly approved’ but it has been ‘activated’ ...whatever that means...put your right foot in, your right foot out...in, out, in out and shake it about...in any case, Paul Golding is stating that his own beliefs closely align to those of our PM, which is not at all anything other than a worrying ‘endorsement’...

Are you attempting to compare Britain first to momentum?.
No, that would be the the leader of BF who said he wanted to create a 'Momentum-style group in reverse'. If that is their goal, then no complaints should come from Momentum supporters, right?, as they say they want to be similar.
Labour embraced Momentum, The Tories reject BF.

Hard to tell
The point is this is a sensible idea, be it public service or mixed public and private.
More importantly it will happen. You can't move things online like billing, payments etc like its happening now without making internet a universal service. And this is only the beginning

These things can still be done in person, and plenty of places have wifi. Liraries even have PCs people can use. It's still perfectly possible to exist without internet use, so there's no need to make it more universal than it already is.
