I'm just gathering every #1 single from the 2000s at the moment and, whilst a far superior decade to this one, good grief we gave a #1 hit to just about anyone. Darius? Go on then. Blazin' Squad? Why not! Nizlopi? You bet your ass!

But it's mostly frustrating because of the sheer volume of charity singles I'm having to weed out (because nobody cares what the X Factor Finalists did) and also a ton of random campaigns to get old hits to the top of the charts. That 2005 summer of getting random Elvis songs to #1 was a particular low-point for the decade (WHY? IT'S NOT LIKE HE WAS WITHOUT EXPOSURE.)
