It's been announced today that the minimum wage will be rising from £8.21 to £8.72 in the biggest ever minimum wage hike

I'm surprised the Queens speech didn't give us compulsory sun subscription, a gallon of white lightning and food bank vouchers weekly instead of a min wage.

Yes and it was a Tory pledge. Now they're trying to spin missing that target into a positive by making this out to be a "huge increase" that's just been announced :hehe:
Seems they didn't even hit the already-mentioned adjusted target of £8.67 :idc:
It's a decent amount, but of course if the Tories were to double the min wage people would still find fault.

Yes, let's blame the unwashed masses for the privileged elite not sticking to their own promises.

What a classist comment.

Yes it was. An apt description of your comment.

Absolutely not, why assume im talking about the people who receive minimum wage? Are you trying to say everyone who's against the Tories receive minimum wage? Or that only those who receive it wont be happy about this, and not those who have higher paid professions?
Those against the Tories (some people) wont be happy about this, regardless of salary. You made this a class thing, not me :)

A very defensive post for something you "didn't" do.
I didn't mention classes.

Unless people are actually rimming Boris Johnson's arse you will assume any negative reaction is from "Those against the Tories, regardless". Very childish frame of mind.

The key word here is "some" (my op stated some, my reply stated some). Some doesn't mean all.
some people who are generally against the Tories will actually be happy about this increase in wage.
I don't really care for Boris fwiw, i don't really care much for the Tories, Labour or the Lib Dems. I was one of the some who didn't vote in last years general election. But of course, if i defend a Tory policy im extreme right, an idiot, don't know what im talking about etc etc LUL.

It's still the same pointless remark in a thread where the only criticism was that the increase is a far cry from what was actually promised.
Had Corbyn been the person to do this, the thread would be 5 pages long and be back to the antisemitism discussion.
But, no, it's the Tories so a "some people are never happy" pointless retort is provided.

Nobody said you were.

Actually that works both ways. I can assure he'd have been commended, at the same time been slated.

Except it's not even worked the way you assume it has. The thread is still on page 1 and it's 2 days old.

The plan was to raise the minimum wage incrementally till it reached £9 in April 2020, the fact it wasn't makes this rise look generous when actually it falls woefully short.
