I think the linebreak might have have confused you, he said "she's a female Corbyn", so it's not unreasonable to think she won't win.

Literally nothing wrong with Labour's policies... That's what they're all backing isn't it?
All this 'I liked Corbyn the least so vote for me' is pathetic!
The carreerists who were least vocal for Labour against the tories during the election are the ones shouting that loudly now :/

Woke, intellectually withered Labour has learned nothing from its annihilation
The Labour Party has learned nothing from its electoral annihilation. Some might expect
that, following the Red Wall’s seismic collapse, the Marxislingtonists would finally get the
message that the only thing that can save their movement is a root and branch cultural
revolution. But instead of dealing with its self-loathing metropolitan demons, Labour has
settled for chasing ghosts. Its “do or die” leadership contest has already disintegrated
into a shrugging toss-up between a Corbynite stitch-up and a Frankenstein Blair.
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/politics/2020/01/09/woke-intellectually-withered-labour-has-learned-nothing-annihilation/
Starmer, Nandy or Phillips are the best choices
I would support Long-Bailey over the tories but she’s definitely not the best candidate in this current climate of right-wing politics.

Lol okay Becky :pat:
That's nkt really something there's a strong yearning for, so to make it part of any campaign is just a waste of time. Focus on actual policies.
Not only that, but the Tories don't currently have a majority in the House of Lords. You'd think the Labour party would want there to be some scrutiny for the Tories...

That vid does show why labour lost... there are those in the labour party that actively work against left wing politics.
They profess to be left but are firmly centrist with values akin to me more closely with the lib dems than Labour who as we know when push comes to shove align closer to the conservatives than Labour.
That's why we lost, that and the media assassination of Corbyn

Not unless they're fundamentalists? The idea that all Catholics are anti-abortion at all is ridiculous, let alone anti-abortion-for-all (many will take an "I wouldn't ever but each to their own" approach).

Not at all, it's pretty fundamental for a Catholic to subscribe to the teachings of the Catholic Church which is opposed to abortion

You don't know many Catholics then.
...I think that RLB has stated that she’s pro-choice ...I think that even within the Catholic Church ranks and hierarchy’s etc...there are mixed views on abortion...the Catholic Church, is no longer a ‘one size fits all’...people have their life beliefs, while also having their faith beliefs...otherwise I guess that Roman Catholic people would all be considered extremists...
I mean Mogg is also pro-choice in the sense he doesn't think it's a matter for the government but the Church could hardly be more clear on its view on abortion. She has indicated in the past she would like stricter laws on it as well: https://www.theredroar.com/2020/01/exclusive-long-bailey-backs-stricter-abortion-laws/
I agree with MTVN, it's one of the principle factors that separates the catholic religion from that of the CoE.

You do realise this redroar is a politically centrist site, the spin on this is not to show her in a good light for her views?
So what's your angle here, are you highlighting this issue as a positive or a negative?
Let's get back the the crux of the argument, which was her opinion that termination dates should be the same for an abled as disabled foetus.
I am not catholic and i agree with her, otherwise imo we stray into eugenics.

That wasn't why labour voters voted conservative, the taxes proposed only affected those earning over 80k. So sorry that was not the reason the toris won in low income areas this election.
The idea did not fail, the idea hasn't had a chance to fail as it hasn't happened.
the idea has happened. Labour put it in their manifesto and the public said no thanks

His policies were recieved favourably, it was him and his brexit stance that lost seats.
the manifesto included the stance on europe. The public rejected the manifesto and the leadership of the labour party. So, what is being proposed now is that they put some Corbyn clones in and keep the manifesto. Sounds like a great plan

That is rubbish.. but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. If it's all Corbyn giving them a 'boost' as soon as the new leader is announced all antisemitism in all parties, social media and wider society in the UK will stop won't it?...
I'll look forward to that.
Scrap the party, Labour are dead. It's over.

Looks like the inquiry into Labour's anti-Semitism is being extended till July owing to Labour's lawyers failure to hand over requested documentation. What a shame the new leader, whoever that is, will have to continue to deal with this.

A couple of impassioned speeches and suddenly every MP wants to drop bombs, haven't forgiven Hilary Benn for his part in the last crusade. His dad would be spinning!!
Labour leadership candidate Sir Keir Starmer's mother-in-law has died after she was in an accident two weeks ago.
The MP, who is running to replace Jeremy Corbyn, had taken a break from campaigning this weekend due to her being ill.
The chairwoman of his campaign, Jenny Chapman, announced on Sunday that his mother-in-law died yesterday.
She tweeted: “My thoughts and prayers are with Keir Starmer and his family.
“Keir’s mother-in-law died yesterday following an accident two weeks ago.
“Thank you to everyone for being so kind and supportive and for respecting his family’s privacy at this difficult time.”

Rebecca Long Bailey would have Corbyn in the shadow cabinet, probably as foreign secretary.
Lisa Nandy would vote to abolish the monarchy.
Kier Starmer is looking better and better.
Starmer is much more of a favourite to win the leadership than Boris was, it would be a major upset if he lost.
