I used to work on the sideshows/games at a theme park which was very fun but I did feel a bit embarrassed when people at a party would ask what I do.

Wow hi, long time no see! :)
it's not that i thought any jobs were bad myself (genuinely). my dad always told me, "go to uni so you dont end up like them" while pointing to bin men. almost as if it'd be a bad thing to be a bin men. and obviously it's not a job i wanna do but why complain about them when we make use of their service

I bed he’d complain more if we didn’t have them :hee:
...(...not that I’m recommending it..)..but it would be an interesting concept/notion for all medical doctors ..(..and maybe nursing staff..?..)..to step down from their roles for a day/week...so the full impact of contribution of their job roles on society could be seen...

I have regular contact with nurses, doctors and consultants, I have yet to meet one that puts themselves on any kind of pedestal.

I mean, there is literally nothing worse than retail. Nothing. And I wasn't even in the worst kind of retail. I mean yeah the customers were often rough as **** but also, there was a lot of free reign with customer service standards. Like you could tell people to go **** themselves sideways off a building and stuff, and that was quite fun. So not like Tesco or w/e.

I agree Smudgie. I did some pretty awful jobs when I was a student. There is no shame in honest toil.

Well being a Pornstar (not that I'd be offered lol) wouldn't be my ideal job, or a bin man amongst a few others.
I wouldn't call any legal job uncool though, some services are needed so anyone that takes those jobs on gets my support.

I've always thought it'd be quite cool to be a binman really - good pay, keeps you fit and you're generally finished for the day by about 2pm

I agree Smudgie. I did some pretty awful jobs when I was a student. There is no shame in honest toil.
When I was a student I worked in a single-man pub kitchen frantically prepping, cooking and washing dishes all at the same time. It was hot, there were no windows, on my feet all day, burns on my hands constantly... but it was my favourite job to date . I mean I wouldn't do it now as it was crap pay (though £2 above min wage at the time which isn't bad as a student) + zero hour contract even though I was working 30-40 hour weeks... BUT the work itself I loved. The time flew in.

Local council work! Good pay for minimal effort. I have legit been told this by many local council workers :joker:.

It's funny... but I can see that. While at uni I worked as an office cleaner during the late evenings. Our supervisor was a really lovely West Indian woman and she'd play music and we'd all sing and dance while we were working. Made bin emptying and bog cleaning a lot more fun. I think working at the cinema was my very favourite student job, I got to see all the films for free.
Not sure I could have worked in your kitchen however, too hot for me.

And let's not forget the superannuated pension. Ring the council and try to find someone to talk to at 4pm on a Friday afternoon.

for a whole 2 summers I counted cars. Sat in a small wooden box half way up a mountain, 12 hours, no loo, bring your own food, sat with a clipboard and a pencil. For the Council roads dept.
pay was good and i listened to the radio

**** as a teenager I'd have loved it in the rain, I'd have listened to Staind and read philosophy under an umbrella and thought about how no one else gets it.
Straight-down rain though, even as a teenage emo I hated wind. HATE. I feel like it's attacking me on purpose.

The fact that a council was paying someone a wage to sit and count some cars sounds like a parody though.

Ahh true any job that involved being an arsehole must be the most uncool. "Can't pay? We'll take it away!" types too. Remember this guy?
