Arista, this is wrong. The president has already been impeached. She is now handing over the papers for the trial in the senate which will determine if the crimes are serious enough for him to be removed from office or not. He is an impeached president.

Following the constitution is not a waste of time, they had no choice but to follow the law, whether or not the republicans want to remove him or not is their issue and completely against the point, they’re the ones who’ll be remembered as the bad guys, impeachment was the only choice

In a thread today, you said "rules are rules". Now you're saying it's a waste of time to hold a trial for someone who broke more than rules by breaking the law?

Which is it?

She suggests she has a 'Guns don't kill people but I'm willing to' bumper sticker then suggests getting someone out of office. This could be seen as incitement.

Hopkins can sound off all she wants, and people can share her views, who cares.

Anyway, if the Dems want to ensure Trump doesn't get a second term, they should be focusing on choosing the right candidate (i.e. Bernie, Tulsie, or Mayor Buttboy) instead of pissing around with an impeachment which won't remove him from office.

Tom4784
21-01-2020, 03:37 PM
I don't blame the dems for taking their time, the republicans corruption needed time to fester and be highlighted and most of the time, they did it themselves.

Anyone who considers themselves Right Wing should be criticising how the republicans are spitting in the face of due process and are refusing to upload the constitution like they promised to do so when they were sworn in. Trump will not get a fair trial, the Senate will not listen to evidence because they're going to clear him of crimes he is clearly guilty for and anyone with a conscience or the ability to see things from a bipartisan lens should be disgusted.

the trial and impeachment are important because it gets the facts out to the voting public. It also gives the public an opportunity to evaluate if the GoP are out for themselves or out for america's best interests. It's also important to note that the GoP can't lie during the trial, or they will end up in trouble themselves. So, this trial is very important, not for removing trump from office, thats not going to happen. It gives the public a clear view on their current government. If Trump ends up being re-elected, then the public just don't care if their government is corrupt, and the rest of the world will just have to accept that.

Exactly, I’m sure they know that he won’t be removed, it’s all about showing the country what a ridiculous cult the GOP has become, will it affect anything? I don’t think so, he’ll probably win another term, but the trial has to happen because the dema actually believe in the constitution

Theres nothing special about this style.
It's an old right wing trick to try and monopolise patriotism.
We had the same here when some were calling remainers and judges enemies of the people.

I think you're right, it is a waste of time. Not because Donnie didnt do it - he definitely is guilty of the accusation - thirteen people have testified under oath that Trump was strong arming Zelinsky but more due to the tribal nature of the senate. It was a fiasco to watch every resolution put forward to introduce witnesses and evidence voted against along party lines. Susan Collins, Mitt Romney etc have made noises about how they want to hear from witnesses but strange how they voted with party on every resolution put forward last week. John Bolton needs to testify because at the moment Fox news and the Trump-ites are trying to discredit his name yet insist he must not testify. Its ludicrous and farcical. This trial shows us the impeachment process doesnt really work in the real world with people on the likes of twitter, Fox News etc. spinning sworn testimony.
