It's the second of Sony's live action Spider-man universe films after Venom and it's releasing in June of this year.
The first trailer is due soon but an image of Jared Leto in full make-up has leaked. It's remarkable how close they've stuck to the source material, I was sure they were gonna tone down the horror aspect of his appearance. I thought Venom was passable yet dated but Into the Spider-verse was amazing so I'm hoping this one takes after the latter and not the former.

I don't envy the marketing team for this one, how are you going to market and advertise a film like this when you're likely to cause a stink with parents if you slap the main character on a billboard or the side of a bus? I'll be interested to see how they get around it.

that's terrifying
I just hope he's better Morbius than he was The Joker.

Mess I forgot he was doing this film. Hopefully he'll do the character justice.
Morbius is one of my favourite Spider-Man villains.

Looks decent. Glad that it's confirmed that it's set in the MCU.

Ah, I’ve never followed the comics, I’ll definitely give it a watch though

There hasn't really been a superhero horror til this year (The New Mutants and this) Joker was not a superhero horror film.

It may be a good film but he is not The Joker.

There's also going to be Doctor Strange 2 at some point which is already said to be the closest thing the MCU has to a horror film.
The Superhero genre is a versatile one, Captain America: Winter Soldier was pretty much a spy film, for example. I think you can apply superheroes to a lot of different genre films and make it work and I think that's what you'll see a lot going forward.

Michael Keaton is playing his MCU character in this. I thought he was a great villain in Spider-Man.

The section from him opening the door when Peter turns up to pick up the daughter for prom, through the slow realisation of who Peter is, and then “the talk” when they park up at the school… is a masterclass in villain portrayal :joker:. I was so tense sat in the cinema, my leather VIP seat was squeaking.
(HOWEVER on a recent rewatch I wondered why Peter seems intimidated by him at that point - Vulture is not suited up, and peters powers are not tech-dependent, so sat in that car he’s literally like 50x stronger than Daddy Vulture and could mess him up in seconds  )
