to cut their locks as she says it discriminates against black children.]

Being overly concerned with another child's hair is weird. It is their's and their parents choice.
I knew girls in school with longer than the boy in the clip but no one ever tried to tell them to cut it.

If he is a hair model then his hair is his income. I agree with this decision that as long as it's braided for school then it should be allowed to stay.

Two of my nephews have very long hair, they are both into heavy metal music, one works as a stage hand now so his school days are over ,but his school didnt seem to have a problem with it although it wasn't so long then, but the other one is at school, he goes to a grammar school and they have told his dad that he must have it tied back if he wants to keep it long or get it cut , we understand they need to be safety conscious, but it doesn't affect his education, if its clean and tidy,I see no issues, just tie it back at school,i saw this child this morning,he has gorgeous hair.

As hair length in no way affects his ability to learn, I see no issue with why it has to be cut. Girl's are allowed hair at a length of their choosing so boys should not be any different.
As long as it does not pose any risk to him or anyone else (such as getting caught in any PE equipment or set on fire in the science lab as a happened to a girl at my school which was especially bad as she was partial to a looooot of hairspray) and is tied back to avoid any issues why should he have to cut it.
Also, Arista - why is he a "BRAT"?

His hair is gorgeous and he looks happy and bright. I don't think schools should try to tell children what to do with their bodies.

It's a bit like at our school they wouldn't allow girls to wear trousers in winter. Just ridiculous and archaic some of the rules.

Always found this rule a bit stupid in schools tbh, just let him have his hair how he likes. I remember in my school you wasn’t allowed to have a No.1 haircut or you’d be sent home. It was a good way to get out of P.E :hehe:

Don’t understand what is gained from a school telling children how to wear their hair. What a stupid thing to get fixated about.

Absolutely horrific. The mum is at fault. Cut the hair or home school him but I bet she won't as it's too much like hard work. Vile

She does have a point in that boys and girls should be treated in the same way, however I think she is driven more by pound signs that what he wants, it has been reported today she will ensure he identifies as non binary as he moves up to high school to protect his hair, I would say that is a form of child abuse if he sees himself as a boy

Let him grow it down to his ankles if he wants to. At what point is he going to start to look ridiculous? And how is this discriminatory to black kids but not to white kids?

Eh, I'd rather have a meaningless label for when I'm at school if it means I have control over my appearance. Good on his mother for using the system.
