Do you like women commentators?

So we now have women commentators on five live and on the BBC/Sky

How do you feel about it. We also have women pundits shoehorned into Football shows like sat score special with Jeff on Sky

Do you welcome them or do you prefer men?

This is not a sexism thread just seeing how fans feel about the change!

I am listening to the Leicester game at the mo and its a woman lead commentator

If it isn't a question you'd ask of "male commentators" then it isn't really an interesting question or one that can be accurately answered beyond "some are good and some are not".

I tend to have most games i watch on mute, female/male, makes no difference to me, most just state the obvious and i find them all rather irritating.

BT Sport being the worse by miles for commentators and pundits.

I don't really watch any sports ball but some great e-sports commentators are women, I don't think it makes a difference.

The Leicester game they keep interrupting the commentary to give goal updates from womens football, this is why I prefer talksport.

I don’t watch football but I see people complain about this all the time and tbh I don’t see why female commentators would be a problem other than people dead set on making football a boys club

I think it’s just gonna take most of us time to get used to hearing women’s voices commentating on football just because we’ve lived through 50+ years of only male voices .. just takes time .


Now having female pundits/experts critiquing/analysing the actual play ( before / halftime/ after the game ) ... that’s a whole different conversation

They're fine/good... some kinda don't know what they're talking about but same could be said about the men. The women might stand out more because there's a lot less & they're newer to being part of the commentary teams but if they know the sport, they know the sport. :idc:

A couple of years ago BT signed David Bentley. Undoubtedly the worse I've ever seen, far worse than any woman could ever be, the bloke could barely string a sentence together never mind say something constructive. Then theres Michael Owen. So here a question do you think Michael Owen is a better pundit than any women and if so I'd be intrigued as to why. He's awful and I'd much rather listen to someone like Karen Carney.
