In CBC's sitcom "Schitt's Creek," a wealthy couple -- video store magnate Johnny and his soap opera star wife Moira -- suddenly find themselves completely broke. With only one remaining asset, a small town called Schitt's Creek, which the Roses bought years earlier as a joke, this once-wealthy couple must give up life as they know it. With their two spoiled children in tow and their pampered lives behind them, the Rose family is forced to face their newfound poverty head-on and come together as a family to survive.

Schitt's Creek is perfect start to finish :flutter:. It never descends into unrealistic drama, never covers anything particularly heavy at all, it's just a displaced family doing relatively normal stuff in a little town. And it's great for it.
I just hope they make a "The Crows Have Eyes" spin-off movie.

Absolutely perfect series. Moira is 100% one of the best modern characters conceived.

But yeah, agreed. Moira was just Moira :joker:
Although I think that she made friends with the townsfolk which she wouldn’t have imagined doing beforehand but yeah, that’s about as much “growth” as she has lol

Just binged the schitt out of this, it took me a good few episodes to really start to love it but it's by far the best American sitcom ever imo I'm so sad it's over. Moira has to be one of the greatest characters ever and I agree with whichever one of you said they need to do a Crows have Eyes film [emoji28] Also agree with loving the fact that it never went too far with stupid drama and really just stayed about their relationships with eachother and the people in the town. Also I'd have to say Alexis is my favourite character after Moira but literally loved every character in it besides maybe Mutt, he was kind of annoying. Looking forward to watching the after show thing tomorrow

It's supposed to be ambiguous I think, they never mention a state or exact location and they talk about various cities in both the US and Canada. I would place it in the US though just on account of "the locals" having fairly generic US accents rather than Canadian, and it being implied that they relocated from New York and that Moira spent most of her career on a "Sunset Beach style" soap opera which would be California.
A lot of US shows are filmed in Canada though (e.g. CW "Arrowverse" stuff like The Flash, also Supernatural, all filmed in and around Vancouver) purely because production costs are apparently much lower. Often the actual setting is "Generic US City".

That makes sense, the area looked really nice though, I would definitely have preferred to stay and live in David and Patrick's little cottage than go off to new York too

Me too but I've never been a city boy. I tolerated it for University, but I couldn't live in a city or even a large town long term.

Re watching this atm, I love it even more this time round. I'm particularly loving the scenes between David and Alexis, they're hilarious together
…I was thinking about making a thread and then I found this one…
…I’m just starting my first watch of Schitt’s Creek…I did try to watch it once before and got as far as episode 5 of season one and then somehow got distracted…I also hadn’t felt really invested in the characters at that time either…
…anyway, I’ve started again from the beginning and still on season 1/around episode 6 or 7, I can’t recall which one of those…
…but I was thinking with the character of Moira Rose…
…when she was doing the promotion for the fruit wine, where did the English accent come into it…was that a character she had previously played and become famous for and so she was in that character for the wine ad…also, and probably completely overthinking it….but with her wig use and love as well…and also that kind of expensive fashion/clothing taste she has etc…was Moira Rose in any way inspired or influenced by the wonderful Joan Collins…

Catherine O'Hara said that the voice she was doing was inspired by old time movie stars, she also was the one who decided to add in the weird words every episode

You've inspired me to do another rewatch Ammi
…that scene was the first laugh out loud scene for me…it was just so silly in its humour but also hitting all of my funny bones because of the character…
…getting it all wrong and not even realising it after a while and then sailing through when she was drunk…(…as Johnny said, she was always drunk in her acting days, that was the thing…)…and then fluffing it up at the end to make no sense at all…I don’t know why I found that so laugh out loud but I did…

The second season of Bad Sisters started off as a slow burner, and I'll admit I was unsure how it was all going to turn out ....but it came together . I actually enjoyed it in the end ,I won't spoil it for you if you haven't finished watching it yet.
But the last episode felt like a proper bittersweet
ending...if that makes sense. Doesn't look like there's any plans for a season 3...which is ashame in a way ,but maybe the story would run out of steam anyway,so I think they made the right choice finishing it here.

Oh do. Season 1 is more of a build up to the rest of the seasons so stick with it.
…I knew that Dan Levy was Eugene’s son…I mean, that’s unmistakable in terms of how much they look like each other and share so many mannerisms etc…but I hadn’t realised that Sarah Levy was part of the family tree as well as Twyla…and I think that for me is something that shines in the show/in the dynamics…not just the slickness and sharpness of the writing and comedy but what each actor brings to their role…(…as with Moira…)…but a huge sense of ‘family’ as well…they might not be a relatable family in terms of lifestyle etc, either before or after they came to Schitt’s Creek but there is still so much sense of family bonds and relatability etc…it really does have so many layers…

…I think it’s a bit similar to Friends in that way, in how it wasn’t just about the slick dialogue but how they developed in their characters as well…

…I’m trying to slow down/distracting myself with other watches…I finished The Glory yesterday evening and tonight is The Traitors plus the last episode of Silo…plus I want to try to watch Gladiators 2 this weekend as well…but Schitt’s Creek is such quick episodes that are almost an ad break so somehow they always slip in there as well as little fillers…
…me and Mr Ammi deciding whether to go one more episode …

….all I’ll say is that I wasn’t invested in the characters in watching the first few episodes right at the beginning….it wasn’t an instant connection but it did happen that I fell completely in love with them and it’s huge warm hug every time I watch it…I get stupidly excited about watching a few more episodes…which is why I’m struggling to put it down and slow down and savour it……if you do decide to keep on with it, I think that you will grow to love it pretty soon, GH….
Omg Ammi are you nearly finished
…I’m on season 5 and I think there are 6 in all…?…I’m trying to slow down a bit because I don’t want it to be over…I’ve just started to watch a series called Servant alongside and it’s shaping up to be (weird and creepy)…but very good…
…I’ve just begun season 6/the final season…the ending to season 5 was very lovely and extremely emotional……

The season finale with them all laughing and dancing together is like one of my fave scenes from the whole show.
I rewatch this show all the time too. They have such good actors on the show and then other characters who’s actors just seem like they are being themselves (Patrick, Stevie, Ronnie for example)
That’s what I like about the show, it seems more genuine that way, if that makes any sense
Niamh.

Stevie and Alexis are really close friends irl apparently
…that’s one of the things that I love about it…that it creates such a believable community of characters of Schitt’s Creek……
…I’m not leaving, when I finish season 6 I’m just going to detour back to season one again…and again…once you’ve gone to Schitt’s Creek, you’ll never go back…

Watched the episode with one of my favourite lines last night, when Roland leaves the scan picture on Moiras desk and she says "who put a picture of a ghost on my desk"?
….ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, I finished it…I unashamedly sobbed for some bits, they’re just such easy to love characters and I’ll miss it…I started to watch the documentary talking about it all and getting the cast together originally and that’s so interesting as well to see them out of character…but also, it just seemed so fitting as well that some of them weren’t working at the time and their careers being on a bit of a low when they got the part so it’s obviously even more meaningful and life changing for them in their lives…that feels really so fitting with the characters…it’s an exceptional series, I love it……
…I meant to say….I loved Alexis mimicking Moira Rose…she was so spot on…

…the documentary on how the series came about and the making and casting of it etc…?…was just one big ocean of emotion, maybe more so than any scene …it’s not just how much the fans have engaged with it, it’s how much the cast and crew did as well and how much affection they all have for each other and for their characters…it really is just a huge ‘family’…they were sad it ended, we were sad it ended…Schitt’s Creek is a very unique place……

I’m debating whether or not to wait actually. Got a very long flight to Australia next weekend so might download them in case there’s nothing I want to watch on the plane.

…how long is the flight…?…there are generally some pretty good/varied viewing choices for long haul but I think that it’s a good plan to have Schitt’s Creek tucked in there as well as an extra…so yeah, take them with you I would say…
