Says the boss of Ryan Air

Michael O'Leary said terrorists 'will generally be males of a Muslim persuasion'
The 58-year-old said families with young children should be let through security

He stated 'that is where the threat is coming from'.

Mr O'Leary said terrorists 'will generally be males of a Muslim persuasion' - and that families with young children should be let through security as they are less likely to 'blow' people up.

The 58-year-old added that the only way to 'deal with the threat' was to vet 'single male' Muslims travelling on their own.

Mr O'Leary had told The Times: 'Who are the bombers? They are going to be single males travelling on their own.

'If you are travelling with a family of kids, on you go; the chances you are going to blow them all up is zero.'

He added: 'You can't say stuff, because it's racism, but it will generally be males of a Muslim persuasion. Thirty years ago it was the Irish.

'If that is where the threat is coming from, deal with the threat.'

I would add white men to that as most likely to be far right terrorists :)

If they're coming from anywhere beyond Turkey? Yeah, do it.

Most of the time otherwise? Don't be stupid.

Passengers are profiled from the moment they buy a ticket. There really isn't the need for extensive security checks on anyone but those that get highlighted in the profiling. That is the reality of the situation

The bizarre thing is Nicky they racially profile innocent Muslims, and actual terrorists get away with it.

Heard of dangerous people being on the FBI watch list and still being allowed to walk the streets and blow up innocent people.

I went to watch a rugby game at Wembley stadium, and I had to be searched before I got in. I should have cried racism.

Not every rugby fan is a terrorist.

Stupid thing to say but I get where he is coming from with regard to families and speeding up airport security, he also drew the comparison with how Irish males were treated during the IRA terror campaign where is the outrage for that? just the usual anti Irish sentiment ‘ha ha I thought they went bust’ etc

Tbf they're probably making sure that you don't throw sharp objects onto the pitch.I had a hip flask full of Whiskey on me. I tucked It into the back of my sock. The guy actually touched it when he searched me, but he was too stupid to realise. That could have been a bomb I had. By rights, I should have shopped him to his boss, but then I'd have lost my Whiskey.

There is nothing anti Irish about that reaction, the company was said to be in trouble? The response has to be proportionate to the threat, hence the need for extra vigilance that is all well and good.
His words are controversial but it has to be said in a sensitive area that is a target for terrorism there has to be some profiling.

The authorities should ensure that anyone that presents a clear and present threat is not allowed to fly, whoever they are. The process of that identification doesn't need to be as blanket as it currently is. In fact its not, those that present a threat are identified long before they arrive at the airport. Airport security is largely for show

to be fair he was being interviewed by the Times and was probably steered down that route intentionally
