There's a few surprises in the season 10 American Horror Story cast reveal!

Just moments ago, Ryan Murphy posted a montage featuring the core cast members' names.

The first surprise is that Macaulay Culkin is returning to acting! The former child star will be making his AHS debut this season.

The rest of the cast includes some fan favorites and returning stars like Kathy Bates, Leslie Grossman, Billie Lourd, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Adina Porter, Lily Rabe, Angelica Ross and Finn Wittrock

Back when 1984 was airing, Murphy hinted that the eighth episode of season nine would include a "big" clue foreshadowing season ten's theme. While the true nature of this has not yet been confirmed, a throwaway line about "Bigfoot, aliens, the Loch Ness monster" led some fans to suspect that mythical "cryptids" could take centre stage in American Horror Story's next season.

Where does the Loch Ness monster live? Why, Loch Ness of course. While we doubt that this particular creature will take a leading role in season ten, other potential cryptids linked to water include mermaids, and they're one of the few monsters we've yet to see across the show's ten seasons. We say mermaids, but Cabin In The Woods fans will also be eager to see.

While that might sound like a stretch, other nautical themes could easily form the backbone of future episodes. Anything from a ghost ship to sirens to a desert island are up for grabs, and this isn't the first time an ocean theme has been on the cards.

Right after Roanoke finished airing back in 2016, American Horror Story posted this vague teaser on the show's official Twitter account:

At the time, these choppy, blue waves led many to believe that nautical horrors were in store for season seven. As we know now, that didn't come to pass, and instead, the scariest thing about Cult was Evan Peters wearing that Trump cheetos face.

However, there's a chance that the teaser's brief reference to season six could be echoed here by Murphy's new announcement video. The older clip briefly cuts to a Roanoke scene where investigators stumble across a dusty, wooden ship, and it may be no coincidence that the season ten teaser focuses on the ocean.

I f the writers are indeed planning to revisit Roanoke, don't be surprised if Lady Gaga returns for a Scáthach origin story. The "Original Supreme" stowed away on a trans-Atlantic voyage in season six flashbacks, and nothing would make fans happier than seeing Mother Monster join the monsters of season ten.

Still, without the Supreme's special gifts, it's hard to predict whether oceanic themes will definitely play a role in upcoming episodes or not. After all, it's still likely that space and aliens could take centre stage here if we're going off past clues.

If you liked Coven, try Apocalypse. I enjoyed Cult but the reaction to it elsewhere is divided to say the least

Hotel was similar to Coven, entertaining but messy at times

Apocalypse personally I found garbage because the whole season is pointless

I’ve caught up / finished Red Tide and I’m actually shocked at how good it was!

Yeah, we got the usual crappy "epilogue" type ending that I hate with this show, but overall a decent effort. No distraction with unnecessary characters or boring subplots. It just stuck to the main arc and was all the better for it.

Yeah the weakest part was the finale 100%. For a season which didn’t feel rushed at all despite its length, the last ep definitely felt rushed

I enjoyed it, I think the epilogue bit was a tad unnecessary but it was a great “series” let’s hope Death Valley doesn’t let us down

I do have questions about the pill / how it effected “untalented” people though.

Like, the chemist said that the effects are temporary and the musician who turned into a pale person had taken multiple pills, yet Doris had one and the next thing we know she’s losing her hair and then no longer herself. Could they not have taken one, realised it didn’t work because they weren’t talented and then be done with it?

Then again I guess anyone taking the pills would be convinced that they’re talented so would carry on taking more so idk
