Might as well do discussion threads for each episode now there's a subforum and it was kinda successful on here during DRUK.
When do we get it? like early hours of the morning?

I think it's like 9AM or so, I'd guess. It's always up by the time I wake up.
I read somewhere that this series has a s6 type first 2 eps where its half the queens each ep except no one goes home until ep 3

I don't mind a 2 part premiere if that is the case, but surely it isn't really necessary for a season that doesn't have as many queens. We could've done with that last season to get a better intro to 15 of them. Also not sure why they chose to do it in a season with an odd number of queens but oh well
I'm actually excited for the season to start since we haven't just been watching All Stars like the last few seasons

And we did it for S11 anyway
I haven’t watched any of the Meet The Queens or anything so I’m going into this pretty blind, hopefully it’s a good series and a step up from last year
s11 really was a **** stain on the series as a whole

I like to forget it ever happened
I've been very casually rewatching it on Netflix but it's taking me like a fortnight break between episodes just to recover from the shenanigans. God I hated Yvie sfm.
:skull: Yvie was the definition of playing the victim, she was always the one to light the fire and complain when she got burned..
I cant even remember the first half of the cast but the later half weren't exactly great.. Akeria was the only one who stood out to me and even she flopped in the finale

Same, I like to be surprised when I first see them!
I remember finding that one queen in s11 who had the big glasses a scream when everyone else hated her

I don't remember where I recently read the info of Ross saying it's one of the best season yet. Or maybe he says that every year to get viewers in. If he said that last year about s11 then he's a liar :skull:

A'keria was robbed :(

28-02-2020, 06:45 PM
A'Keria was the best of the top 4, but in comparison to the other top agent queens I don't love her as much as like Kennedy, ChiChi, Trinity or Asia so I wouldn't have wanted her to be the first southern pageant winner

I’m not as excited as usual :(
I think it’s because S11 was really NOT good, and it still feels like DRUK has only just finished. Obviously I shall be watching as always though!

I've only seen this so far but this is a pretty damn impressive way to open a season. The split opening is confirmed, then:

Widow did THAT. Nicky, Gigi and Brita were also all good, and Heidi's acrobatics put her above the bottom two of Jackie and Crystal imo  but I haven't seen any other clips so idk what happens.
Widow Von'Did the damn thing!
Nicky rolling her eyes at the American pronunciation of hummus
Also, why did nobody tell me that the fake Kanye in the mini challenge was Mayhem Miller?!
...I’m looking forward to watching this later, I’ve tried not to look at who the gals are so much so that I don’t have any preconceptions...they’ll all be that bitch to me.....

Watch Widow being called out for looking messy later on. She gives me Monique Heart vibes in the fashion area, so we'll see. But she's such a great performer!
Gigi came out of nowhere this week, from 21 years old insta queen to lip sync killer. I gotta to admit I liked her lipsync a little more than Widow because it brought something else than the usual deathdrops, splits etc... But both were good!
And of course the girl from my country could not be anything else than a fashion queen and wearing high fashion. Because #france, you know. I really hope she knows how to do other stuff, and let her "european" personality shines over the bigger american ones. We have some good drag queens in France who aren't that much into fashion, so I hope she gets to show that.
Can't wait for next week, I hope the second batch is as good as the first one!
I was really underwhelmed by Gigi the whole ep tbh :eyes: I feel like im missing what others see

Ok I was low key scalped by the Ep, Heidi is a scream, Nicky was too saying that the homeless is hiding in Jackies ass.
I thought all the raps were really good too, I can see Widow getting the villain edit of the season already and I don’t think she should have won the lip sync, she just seemed to throw everything she had at it, it’s to OTT
Jessica.

I love the name Heidi N Closet, I am fuming that the judges hate it.

That episode was so good, way more entertaining than the first episode of S11
Braden

That episode was better than the entirety of season 11.
I was a bit bummed by the split premiere, but it is such a better way of getting to know the queens with them receiving more screen-time. I think the impatient part of me just wants to see all the queens in action asap.
I came out of the episode liking Nicky, Gigi (her looks are gorgeous), Widow and Heidi the most. I also liked Crystal and Jackie but I want to see more of them until I form a solid opinion. I thought I was going to like Brita but she ended up being quite stank and obnoxious, ngl. .
Nicki was a fab guest judge, and I really loved the lip-sync. Ugh, Drag Race is exactly what I need in my life, right now. I'm so happy it's back.
...Heidi’s Fall style is gorgeous.....and I love GiGi’s styling...:flutter:..
...all of their Bitch raps were just glorious......Gigi, Nicky Doll, Widow Von’ Du and Heidi’s catwalk...were my favourites...I’m loving the developing bond with Nicky Doll and Jackie, the Persian princess......
I love the name Heidi N Closet, I am fuming that the judges hate it.
...I think that they spent so much time talking about it, shows it’s a fabulous name.....That bitch with a forgettable name...that ain’t Heidi...
...oh my Lord that Widow Can’ Du...:flutter:...I cried out in pain a few times, but the lady bounced beautifully.../...a deserved win and a hugely fun lip sync.....

OK so I don't say this lightly... but that was the best premiere the show has ever had, including All Stars.
I suppose it's no coincidence that the best season of all time - 6 - had a split opening and it really, really helps the queens embellish themselves. All seven of them had time to shine, and the personalities are already excellent. The performance... I've already commented on, it's fantastic, especially for a first episode. The lipsync was fantastic... I was cringing at Widow's flexibility, laughing at Gigi's theatrics (that little leg wobble after the "twinkle twinkle little star" line :joker:) but oh my god Widow is an assassin. I fear she may have shown all of her cards too early, though.
Heidi is my absolute favourite. I know I always love the pageant queen with a Southern accent but oh my god her lines were hysterical. "You mean paint dry?" "Oh... uh huh????" Interrupting Michelle and Ru on the stage with her "I will never eat kale again. NEVER!" line cracked me tf up. She is just so adorable, and I wish she'd been shown a little more sympathy by the show if that ER story was genuine (especially with the level of preparation and work for this episode, I mean they had to do S7's Fall/Spring runway challenge, a glitter runway, AND that performance choreo, AND write a rap?)
Crystal is very endearing too but I am fearful of her mullet. Jackie is hot af out of drag and very smart/funny as well, but I'm not really that into the whole Mad Men aesthetic TOO much (it's fine in moderation) so I'm gonna have to channel my inner Visage and ask her to mix it up a bit. Nicky is a true unique, and I loved her confessionals over the pronunciation of hummus and conquer. Gigi looks already like the total package and had some fantastic looks and a strong verse. Brita has bags of confidence and will probably get a "delusional" edit in moderation over the season if she struggles more in challenges like she did with this one but I really like her too. And I just love the complete no-holds-barred approach from Widow, I'm tired of queens holding their tongues and just trying to get a good edit... she's got the skills to back up her mild attitude over the choreography (which REALLY wasn't even that bad).
Nicki Minaj was probably the best of the "big popstar premiere judges" as well... I know Gaga was brilliant, and Xtina's Farrah Moan meme was funny, and Miley is probably still hiding from Silky Ganache... but Nicki's personality and reaction to everything was just so entertaining (and I even liked the cheesy-af runway introduction where she scuttered away from Ru's moment).
In season six, the first episode (Adore, Laganja, April, Vivacious, Kelly, Dela & Gia) was weaker than the second (Bianca, Courtney, Milk, Darienne, Joslyn, Trinity & Magnolia)... this time around, it's going to take a hell of an episode to match that comparison.

I agree with this post so much! I LIKED Jackie, but she did not interest me as much as some of the other Queens. I think her drag is really polished and clean, but it just doesn't excite me as much as some of the others. I LOVED Crystal's looks even though they may be a bit more "costume-y" cause I don't know what she's going to bring out next. I loved Heidi's personality and performance, Widow is clearly a very talented performer, and I liked Gigi's looks and she seems more interesting than a lot of people gave her credit for before the season started.
Based on all the press material, unfortunately the second half seems to be the weaker bunch. I am excited to see what Rock M Sakura and Jaida bring to the table, but next week has two Queens that may be missing that little extra oomf (Aiden and Dahlia - could be proved wrong though), and the Queen who I was definitely the most annoyed by in interviews (Sherry Pie). We'll see though.
Jessica.

This episode didn't really have much, nah... it's just an even more heavily-edited bit of chitchat that tries to orchestrate drama  tries to paint out Heidi as this bitter, moody person who hates Nicki Minaj for saying stuff about her makeup when you can see her actually laughing about it in the pan-shots

It's good for the emotional moments (Heidi also has a story about being isolated by her local drag scene) but unless there's a full-blown argument it's just annoying to watch because they cut and paste random shots to try and create a false narrative.
