Perched for the Robyn lipsync  idk which of the two sets of queens I'd have been more gutted to miss out on, bc I stan Robyn way harder than I do Nicki but that was a hell of a premiere to be a part of...
I for one cannot wait to see how Rock M. Sakura interprets "Fosse-inspired jazz number"

Jan going for a completely obscure reference for her entrance line

Happy they're getting the same mini-challenge.
I like all of them at the moment with the exception of Dahlia... she seems just a bit vapid and boring.
...Jan is so Fergie like as well....yeah, I like them all as well, Shaun...The First Ladies have set some pretty high goals for them to match...
I lol'd at them censoring "Jan Sport" Avoid them lawsuits at all costs, VH1!
I can't help but feel as though they're setting Aiden up to get the Laila McQueen treatment ("spooky" queen who's never really given a chance to shine and is unceremoniously booted early), although I also famously predicted that BenDeLaCreme would be one of the first ones out of All Stars 3 based on her entrance, and we all saw how that went!
also, I know Dahlia is claiming to be in the Haus of Aja, but based on "what's a Fosse?" how can we be sure that she's not actually a member of the Haus of Gia Gunn?

Aiden’s entrance felt really uncomfortable with all the queens questioning her like that and her complete awkwardness. Probabaly cause I know that’s exactly how I would be.
I can’t reallt see past her being the first boot at this point and we’ve only seen 30 seconds of her
On a much less happy note, there are currently some serious-sounding allegations of untoward/predatory behaviour being made against both Sherry and Brita by people who know them personally... I'm not sure if these warrant their own thread, but the allegations against Sherry are detailed here (https://www.reddit.com/r/rupaulsdragrace/comments/fdro66/allegations_against_sherry_pie_megathread/) and those against Brita are linked in the comments

I'll be interested to see if this changes how the show has been edited, depending on how far either Sherry or Brita go in the competition. Surely, this won't be swept under the carpet and forgotten?

As horrible as this all sounds, to lump what she's allegedly done in with the term "sexual assault" is disingenuous and dangerous. It's catfishing at worst.
I had heard that she (spoiler regarding her edit, not how far she goes)
gets a villain edit on the season, so this could turn very ugly
...surely it’s more than cat fishing with the requests for the videos that the people have taken part in...?...what an awful experience in trust betrayal...
...I can’t see any link for Brita...is she part of the same deceptions...?...

I'm not sure this would even be treated as a crime is what I meant - these people voluntarily sent these videos and were duped into thinking it'd further their career. It's gross, yes, but it's worlds away from sexual assault. At best it could be fraud?
This sort of thing is only considered a crime when money is exchanged.
Buzzfeed News article that includes interviews with some of the men involved and Sherry's response (https://www.buzzfeednews.com/amphtml/davidmack/rupaul-drag-race-sherry-pie-catfish-joey-gugliemelli)
...I don’t really know what to think about it atm tbh...it’s all pretty grim and awful for those involved and I don’t in any way want to lessen that...and it’s right that these things are exposed, obviously...which it is being....but the nature of the internet and social media outlets, ‘exposes and reveals’ these things in such a way...the ‘hate’ and negativity directed can be so worrisome as well...in the 7 years since this all happened, I hope there has been much healing and moving forward and I hope that continues for everyone...it’ll be interesting to see how this is addressed in the show..?...surely it can’t be side stepped, it’s such a huge expose in the drag community of a vulnerability that has been exploited...?...
...I’ll read the Buzzfeed article later, MB...thank you for that.....

...is this a good time to say, sure Jan..?...
...it’s like we can’t have nice things though...Drag Race and our queens are such an escape from all of the grim stuff which consumes the news etc...but wait...
How appropriate that Sh*rry's runway reflected the dark cloud hanging over the season that she is!

Safe to say the first episode was better, but it was good overall. The atmosphere was more intense, but overall they all delivered but less than the first group.
Instant love for Aiden and I hope she goes far, she's really unique.
And dead at Sherry doing well this episode giving the current situation. They obviously could not edit her out completely. Next week looks interesting!

OK so I just rewatched the lipsync and I like it better than last week's. Overall, the first bunch was better but not by a lot.

Jan deserved to be top 2 over Sherry imo, the song was nowhere near as good as last weeks either, which I think contributed to the Ep not being as good

!!! Jan was probs my favourite of the new six bunch, rock m sakura comes a close second (major trade :eyes:)
...Jaida just drips elegance......I love Aiden’s walk on the runway, her walk is quite unique.....
...loved, loved, loved You Don’t Know Me..Aiden, Jan and Rock M Sakura were the most thoroughly Fosse gals for me......
....Aiden was my favourite runway look.....
...I loved the lip sync, although I thought that last week’s was exceptional...Jaida.....
The ep was alright, I skipped most of the challenge part, these dance choreo segments are always edited the same each season, 1 queen is bossy, 1 doesnt get it, 1 cant move, 1 has some sort of broken knee :skull:
I thought the spring/fall looks were stronger in this ep, I didnt see 1 look I didnt like! The mainstage runway looks were all pretty good too, not 1 I disliked.
Something about Sherrys makeup bothers me.. Its like shes applied it in a wind tunnel and its all spread up :conf:
anyway the right lip syncer won in the end and yeah.. t'was cute
oh and I loved Jan referencing Tiffany Pollard at the end

Another good episode, not as strong as the first but enjoyable nonetheless. Considering there was one less queen, it makes sense it wasn't as spectacular. There's a hell of a lot of talent this season, though. I'm really excited to see what happens.
I'm actually really liking Aiden atm. I tend to root for an underdog, but I kinda like how she seems to have absolutely no connections to the drag scene and was just plucked to compete on the show. She's quite a refreshing character that may surprise us. Dahlia is gorgeous (I loved her fashion looks) but I would be super-surprised if she makes it far into the competition. She just doesn't have the tenacity most of the other girls attain, it's very 'seen it all before with her' (especially since you could take Aja's personality and swap it with Dahlia's and they'd still be the same person). Jan is someone I'm going to have to watch more to gain an opinion of. The talent is obviously there, but I'm not convinced by this fun, bubble persona. Jaida is absolutely gorgeous, and I LOVED that she was having none of the other queens **** throughout rehearsals and ended up winning! Rock is quite adorable but she could get quite grating. Last but not least...um, well the less said about Sherry the better, but I have to admit—she's a great drag queen. Just a shame everything happened the way it did.
Robyn and Thandie were cute guest judges, and I'm loving Ross and Michelle this episode. I found their quips more funny than usual.

You just know next week they’ll let the scene continue and 30 seconds later they’ll all be running up to one another hugging
:joker: the editors literally follow the same edit pattern each series

Just watched the episode now... obviously not as strong as the premiere but pit a shticky performance, that's out of the comfort zones of most of the participants, against a high-tempo performance and it's always going to pale somewhat.
Some of the runways were beautiful... for the tulle I loved Sherry's and Rock's the most. Rock also had the best of the spring looks (but all of these were good), but I gay-gasped at Jaida's fall runway. Only ones I disliked were Sherry's (the headband made her look like Abraham Lincoln) and Aiden's (I liked the style of it, but the poncho needed to cover the leotard).
Performance-wise they were all decent bar Dahlia... who really just doesn't do anything for me. This "Haus of" nonsense would sound a lot more impressive if your head got further than 7th place in a season  (and that's including the one with only 10 competitors). I think Jan deserved a top spot over Jaida, though, for a unique take on the runway and a more memorable performance.
Obviously the Sherry situation is delicate but I'm mostly saddened that we're going to witness someone perform excellently and then ultimately amount to nothing. I love her style of drag a lot, and it's undervalued among DR fans, but to have it now be associated with her infamy is just heartbreaking (and I still care about her as a queen/person; she's done something awful but shouldn't be demonised).
Jan was the most endearing, I thought - gave me some Cheryl Hole vibes (except I hated Cheryl at the start of UK S1 :joker:)... I like Rock a lot too but that story about being triggered by being choreography leader because...something something mum's drug addiction? It was sad but it was out of completely nowhere and I just found it a little bit attention-seeking (especially when paired with her ridiculous intro and running around the room). Aiden is too shy, I think, to get a favourable oddball edit, but she's interesting (no runways were amazing enough though)... and then there's Jaida, who is...okay? The choreo argument was a little dumb and cyclical but there's a strong performer in there somewhere.
Also: all of them (bar Sherry, soz) were cute (-ish in the case of Aiden) out of drag.

Oh and for once I agreed with Michelle and wanted Ross to shut up about the silhouette of Rock's dress. There was clearly a defined shape, it was just exaggerated (and looked great, imo)
...Sherry is such a huge warmth of personality and such an obvious talented queen...it was really difficult watching her and conditioning myself to not become attached to her, you know....to try to feel a bit more distanced...
...I really worry for her as well, it’s like she’s now playing out a different life and opportunities that she’ll never have....she must already be quite emotionally fragile, so the impact of that as well...it’s all really, really messy, isn’t it......
...I agree about Rock btw, Shaun...I love her and I was totally absorbed in her story ...but then she was ...over it hun!!!......(...is how it felt a little, a bit contrived maybe...)...I still love her though......her style is excellently unique...

It's difficult to watch with Sherry Pie tbh. I'd be okay with them potentially taking a week off or so to re-edit the episodes to lessen her presence as much as possible. Obviously you can't edit her out of this episode but they could get rid of her talking head bits and take her out of the spotlight as much as possible.
It's really annoying too because she is quite likable and I felt bad for feeling like that. If she wasn't such a heinous person, she would have been quite a fan favourite, I think. What a waste of talent.
As for the rest of the episode, it was okay, it didn't have the energy of the last episode because of circumstances but I do think Rock's probably my fave out of all the queens atm, the whole addiction thing felt a bit forced but aside from that she was pretty great.
I'd say my faves atm are Rock, Heidi, Brita and Gigi. I think Jaida's close to being up there, as is Widow and Jan and I quite like Jackie too.

It's a shame that Sherry was quite likeable in this episode. She'd be one of my top queens with Jan, Gigi, Aiden and Jaida.
