So i was raking through a box i got a while back at auction ( i think I bought it as it has some good bibles amongst other things in it) and there was a stone ware pot so naturally i tipped it upside down hoping for good maker and it was full of ashes (bone fragments like coarse sand) and it went all over my hands :umm2: and now there will be fine prticles in the air in my office.

Anyroad i mostly deal in dead peoples stuff but i think that is the first time the actual person was present at the time

There is nothing there only only a pile of ash and bone, might aswell be chicken bones.

We hold on to the idea that it’s a person when it’s just a by product of death.

A few months back I was asked to dig a hole for a tree and the persons ashes was put in a box in the hole with lots of photos.

Two women crying their hearts out while I was doing it.

we will all be nothing more than a few ashes soon....

Because I could not stop for Death,
He kindly stopped for me;
The carriage held but just ourselves
And Immortality.

We slowly drove, he knew no haste,
And I had put away
My labor, and my leisure too,
For his civility.

We passed the school, where children strove
At recess, in the ring;
We passed the fields of gazing grain,
We passed the setting sun.

Or rather, he passed us;
The dews grew quivering and chill,
For only gossamer my gown,
My tippet only tulle.

We paused before a house that seemed
A swelling of the ground;
The roof was scarcely visible,
The cornice but a mound.

Since then 'tis centuries, and yet each
Feels shorter than the day
I first surmised the horses' heads
Were toward eternity.

Good luck with that.

i researched it and its pretty much true give or take a pound and height plays big as a feature. You may be bang on, you may be a pound out but in general its a truism more or less.

An interesting factoid!

I guess then the weight of your ashes correlating to your birth weight will depend if you were full term. If a baby is born very prem weighing 1lb or whatever, I can't see your ashes only weighing that if you died at adulthood.

Not really something I want to be thinking about but interesting.

All those bodies that have been dug up over the years and displayed in museums. No one cares about them... what's the difference? Once you're dead, leaving your body is like getting out of a knackered car, I reckon. Your spirit's long gone.
