I mean it's not necessary to be in a cinema so I wouldn't go, you're going to be sitting on seats that countless other people have, it's an inclosed space etc. People have to use petrol stations/take buses atm

A lot of cinemas won't have many visitors tbh, probably safer in a cinema then you would be at your local supermarket.True, but let's face it, the production companies aren't delaying as a spread-slowing tactic... They're delaying because they know that attendance numbers will be significantly down and it'll trash their box office takings.

Lol they don’t care about people’s safety it’s cause they think the films will bombTo be fair though, with the budget some of these films are made on it doesn't even have to bomb... Just performing a significant margin under predictions can kill a studio/franchise these days, and take hundreds (sometimes thousands) of jobs with it.
People are quick to downplay economic damage as if "it doesn't matter" in terms of tackling Covid but the uncomfortable fact is, it's a balancing act. Major economic damage WILL cost lives.

Mulan was slated for the biggest opening so far this year before it was delayed, it'll probably still do the business wherever they put it (end of the year, I think).
I would not be surprised if New Mutants goes straight to streaming though, that film seems to be an albatross for Disney.

I'm just glad that it's unlikely to affect games releases, because you can even get it digitally and never even have to encounter another living human. Ahhh. I think it's only something like 20% of sales that are physical disks now. 18% is Sullen Girl.

Hmmmm it's a different issue with TV though; they air as they film (or soon after) so while films are being pushed back due to box office concerns, TV shows could end up delayed if production is affected.

I did read earlier that games like Last of Us 2 could be affected and that the launch of the PS5 will likely be delayed into 2021 but I imagine there's not much that could realistically delay the likes of Resident Evil 3 or VII Part 1 at this point.

It'll be interesting to see if any other studios follow Universal's lead and how that'll affect cinemas after the outbreak ends. If people get used too watching the latest releases at home and they sell well then I can see studios begin to cut cinemas out of the equation all together.

But I think that's been on the cards for a while now anyway, the delay between cinema and home release has been getting shorter and shorter.

I think there will be a few major films that go straight to on demand before the year's over. There's too many films and not enough weekends to release all of 2020's content in 2021.

Avatar 2
Looks like will also be Delayed because of Killer Covid 19
[Like every other major film in production right now,
Avatar 2 paused shooting in response
to the coronavirus pandemic this past week.
Of course, unlike a lot of the other tentpoles that
are currently shut down,
Cameron's sequel is just as much a
CGI-animated project as it is a live-action one.
For that reason, it will be able to continue moving forward,
even while live-action photography is on hold.]

I hope it's only a loose adaptation, the book was terrible but then again the first film was a rare case in which the film was better than the book, I thought. The characters in the books are insufferable.

Trolls World Tour has apparently had a $90m release on download, far surpassing the cinema release of the original film. It's a bit of a game changing performance.
Expect studios to follow in their footsteps and forgo the cinema when it comes to non-tentpole releases until all this is over.

Heard whispers ages ago that they were not setting it as far in the future as Find Me so I guess it will be quite different. Apparently in the movie Elio will be around 5 years older than CMBYN rather than double his age in the Find Me book. Luca Guadagnino has heavily hinted Dakota Johnson will play Oliver's wife and their meeting place will be Paris.
I forgot to message you also, after reading the book, the movie is vastly superior. I was quite shocked by how little I enjoyed the book actually but James Ivory really cut diamond from stone.

Mulan probably won't do that well tbh - the remakes of Lion King and Lady & the Tramp were both a bit rubbish compared to their originals, so that might cause people to not bother with future ones? Also, the movie has apparently cut the songs, Mushu, and the hot guy. What's the point in it now?
Marsh.

At least Mulan seems like a somewhat original adaptation, The Lion King was a pointless almost shot for shot remake. If you're going to redo a story/movie, do it differently.

Jurassic World Dominion producers hope for middle of July to resume production, filming
same as what i said in it's thread on here
one might also think, almost everyone of cast are in isolation in the US then (given Sam Neill is from new zealand, and they are keen on not letting anyone in or out for a while longer despite no more cases in the country)
of course i would still find it understandable to isolate cast, crew somewhere distanced from society and mostly skype, facetime contacts only with just need to know information if everything is ok etc
