My Telegraph did not even publish their sports edition in the Saturday paper. Normally its like a 14 pages tabloid. :(
Right after the Spanish flu, came a resurrection called.. The roaring twenties.
Which was followed by...The wall street crash and then...World War II

never, since a regular flu is also a ''coronavirus''
but when covid-19 will end, hmmm no one can say that, but maybe we can decide that ourselves if we don't have any social lives anymore this time, and live in lockdown this time

I'm hoping that around August that we'll start to see it not be quite as infectious as it is at the moment.
But I'm no expert on diseases so my estimate is probably way off.

No it isn't Nicky, regular flu is an influenza.
Most "common colds" however are coronavirus.
Covid-19 will never go away. The misinformation surrounding this is really staggering. We're not locked down "until the virus goes away" - this is a new human virus that will be around for the rest of time, or I guess theoretically, until virology advances to the point where we can kill any virus with a pill.
At some point though - whether through a vaccine or natural immunity building as people gradually get it and recover - it'll fade into being "just another virus". It'll kill a certain number of people every year like other viruses but it'll just be a part of life.
If the question is when will the restrictions and lockdown go away... Well, who knows. They can't go on indefinitely but it could be on-and-off for a year.
:bawling::bawling::bawling:
It's gonna be the new flu l...so every year we are gonna havetomisolate ourselvesnfor 2 or 3 weeks as soon as we can't smell our own ****'s
What toy soldier said...
However, if my post makes snse still
You are virus free.

In Italy it looks like it's improving. So maybe there is light at the end of the tunnel.
the problem is not with the virus effects on an individual, the problem is because it is new and we do not have decades of immunity from it. That means that if everyone gets it at the same time, our hospitals can't cope and so people who would normally survive die.
The number of deaths being reported across the globe now has little relation to the actual fatality rate of the virus, they reflect the particular country's capability to treat vast numbers of infected people at the same time. Italy and Spain's health services have been swamped, so people can't be treated and they die

In Italy it looks like it's improving. So maybe there is light at the end of the tunnel. It's improving because Italy is now a week or more into lockdown so infection rates are reduced, which will massively take the pressure off of services.
We can't stay on lockdown forever though, so it's just about "managing" the spread so that hospitals can cope, and to give as much time as possible for discovering and developing treatments. A vaccine is at least a year away but advances in the treatment of severe cases will save lives and are already happening fairly frequently.

I think we should stay on lockdown, until a vaccine is ready. I know it's a long time, but it won't be forever.

I think we should stay on lockdown, until a vaccine is ready. I know it's a long time, but it won't be forever. We can't stay on lockdown for a year, the global economy will collapse and you'll starve to death long before a vaccine is developed. I'm sorry if that's blunt but people do need to understand the real situation.

As soon as possible I hope. I've never been this purposeless and miserable in so long, and the fact it's threatening the summer after that horrid cold winter is even more saddening.

I don't think I will. The problem is, a lot of those who believe that three weeks of lockdown will knock it on the head are going to rebel when it's announced to be much longer. More and more people will start quietly "cheating" the longer it goes on.

This is true, I think its a mistake to say it will last six months ...they should extend it in two weekly hits, as it might make it more palatable

yep, it should be extended in manageable chunks, it's basic psychology, amazing that a medical officer doesn't understand that
A reliable source has told me this will all be over on April 11th at 6pm.

Once they start masses of antibodies tests they can get more people out working.

We should ask to the manager of Coronavirus tbh
On a more serious note, it will become as seasonal as the flu through time. It's the outbreak and scientists knowing nothing about it that makes it very dangerous. And until a lot of people have been infected to become immune (excluding maybe the possibility of catching it twice?) and scientists delivering proper medication and testing, then it won't stop anytime soon.
Start of the 3rd week of quarantine today over here in France. I didn't think I would ever say this in my life but thank God I'm working (from home during this time) because at least I can focus on something else. I feel for the people unemployed due to it, must be tough.
