Denver

It has been recommended by the directors of the league that it will end early due to Coronavirus and Clubbe Brugge who are 15 points ahead are to be named champions on April 15th.

A similar approach could be adopted In other European leagues where there are runaway leaders.

Link?

What about promotions and relegations? I don't agree with this, the seasons need to be completed properly.

What's the point in starting a new season if you cant finish the last one?

That is worse. Competitions have no integrity if you just scrap it and start again. What happens if CV flares up every year for the next 4 years?

All places remain final no relagations and the top 2 from league above are promoted with extra relagations next season

It would be tainted if there was a few points but if its runaway leaders how can it be tainted?

But your saying we are going to fail to get 6 points and City will get maximum from the test of the games? Its logic the title is basically won

imagine ajax becoming champions here because of coronavirus :yuk:

poor AZ robbed then

2 extra teams next season i wouldn't be against honestly, more teams, more matches, and also more finance for some of those smaller teams :D

Denver

void the season

Then watch the teams drop like Bury also all money would have to be paid back

Ajax Director Marc Overmars: Eredivisie is dead, life is out of it, no more fun to watch in this coronacrisis

it needs to be cancelled without a champion, and just 2 extra teams for next season, and no relegations

PEC Zwolle's director Adriaan Visser, and Fortuna Sittard manager Sjoerd Ars also support this decision to cancel the competition

They can restart in June and play it all within a month then push the next season back to September and cancel the Micky Mouse Cup

Have you got a Crystal Ball? Wimbledon where players play 30 metres apart has been cancelled, how do you think they can plan to restart football in June when other sporting fixtures are being cancelled in the same month? If that is the case they could have let the Euros stand and the Olympics

The Slim Reaper

No date needs to be put on it, you finish the season when everything is safe to resume. UEFA screwed over the whole football calendar to give a world cup to Qatar, so no more of this "it can't be done" stupidity. You don't start up a new league season until you finish the last one.

It's not a Liverpool issue, it's a competition integrity issue.

Its bee suggested they will force players to go to training camps and have all games played at 3 stadiums in the midlands behind closed doors

:umm2: that should be illegal to force anyone to do that, what about the referees, linesmen/women, back room staff, groundstaff , camera crew, that will all have to travel unnecessarily

You guys are being deluded if you think you are seeing football any time soon.

Belgian League is irrelevant to us anyway. They had a game left of their season and basically just scrapped relegation/playoffs etc.

If I was Liverpool I'd be asking for this season to be completed, and eg. shorten next season with a different league format to compensate, rather than just be handed the title now.

Otherwise people won't take the win as completely legitimate.

Not just Liverpool it affects, Sheffield Utd could qualify for Europe for the first time in a very long time, West Brom and Leeds could return to the PL with Leeds having to wait a very long time for this, Foventry could win the league title and be promoted which would help their financial problems and Bolton need the money to save the club and others do aswellb

James

Which teams qualify for Europe is tricky because the next season's European competitions might have a set start date, and they have to know which teams are going to be involved.
