The newest Hunger Games book, "The Ballad of Songbirds and Snake," is looking to become a new film in the franchise!
Trilogy writer, Suzanne Collins, is getting ready to release the new prequel book on May 19 and director Francis Lawrence is set to return to the trilogy to direct. Screenwriter Michael Arndt and producer Nina Jacobson will also be back for the fourth film. Pre-order the book on Amazon right now.
According to THR, the book follows "Coriolanus Snow at age 18, years before he would become the tyrannical President of Panem. Young Coriolanus is handsome and charming, and though the Snow family has fallen on hard times, he sees a chance for a change in his fortunes when he is chosen to be a mentor for the Tenth Hunger Games, only to have his elation dashed when he is assigned to mentor the girl tribute from impoverished District 12."
Each THG film did less than the previous at the box office so I’m a bit surprised this is going ahead

Idk why, in hindsight, I actually liked this franchise. The books were pretty badly written, and the films were just OK
I read the first book like 5 times cover to cover but never bothered with any of the other books or any of the films. A strange girl!

Only watched the first one and loved it!
Are the sequels any good?

Battle Royale > Hunger Games tho tbqhThey didn't spend any time letting us get to know the characters in Battle Royale so it was hard to give a **** when they died so for me I'd have Hunger Games > Battle Royale

The first film was the best one, the second one was decent but it doesn't have a proper ending, just a cliffhanger for the next one, which makes it an incomplete film.
A lot of teen films from that era follow a similar path tbh. The first "Maze Runner" is a great film, the sequels are crap. The first "Divergent" is very watchable, the sequels get so progressively bad that they didn't even bother making the final one lol.
The Hunger Games is at least WATCHABLE throughout but only the first one is standout, and the second one mostly good. The two-part finale is just OK.

The Maze Runner diverged completely from the books, that’s why they went to **** (imo)

I never cared about anyone in Hunger Games even though they tried to set you up to care so...
