View Full Version : Watching Breaking Bad

I've been spending lockdown watching one of the most critically acclaimed TV shows of all time. I'd watched a few clips on YT and the pilot episode years ago, but other than that I'm completely new to this show. I've heard so many amazing things about this show and it always appears on 'best TV shows of all time' lists.
I'd started this 2 weeks ago and have been meaning to make a thread but I kept forgetting, plus I didn't think I'd watch more than 1 season. I have a bad habit of watching one season of a show, finishing it, forgetting about it, and then just completely losing interest in carrying on. Although surprisingly I haven't done that this time. I finished season 1 last weekend, and have been watching season 2. I'd just watched episode 5 last night and thought it'd be a good time to finally make this thread. Hopefully I'll be able to finish this show within the next 3-4 weeks. I'm enjoying it so much so far.
Feel free to share your thoughts as I go along. No spoilers please though.
Niamh.

My season 1 thoughts.
What an incredible first season this was! From the pilot episode I was completely hooked throughout. Each episode was better than the last, and there wasn't even one boring episode at all. Poor Walter, you really feel sorry for him, the desperation and determination that he feels to financially provide for and secure his family's well-being after learning he has lung cancer and not long to live is heartbreaking. I like the relationship between him and Jesse. At first it's only business between them, but as time goes on they slowly build a bond between them, almost a father-son bond. They still argue every now and then, but they care deeply for each other, a perfect example being when Walter gets revenge on Tuco Salamanca after he beats Jesse to a bloody pulp after a drug deal gone wrong.
Speaking of Tuco, what an incredible character he is. He's such a terrifying, unpredictable, hilarious, compelling mess. I couldn't believe it when he beat the **** out of one of his men in the last episode just because he spoke out of line. That was completely unexpected. The look of shock and horror on Walt and Jesse's face said it all, they didn't know what they were getting themselves into.
The scenes with Krazy-8 were so powerful to watch, when Walt and Jesse imprisoned him in Jesse's basement for several days as they ponder what to do with him after he tried to kill them. It was quite a touching moment when Walt revealed to him that he had cancer. I'd imagine Walt was dying (pun intended) to tell someone, anyone, no matter who they were. The fact he was more comfortable to tell Krazy-8 first rather than his family said it all about his character. It must've been extremely difficult for Walt, debating on whether or not he should kill Krazy-8. I wouldn't know what to do with him too if i were in his shoes. No way would someone like him just let you go after what you put him through, and it was confirmed when he tried to kill Walt after he was gonna free him. Walt did the right thing killing him in the end.
So, that's my thoughts for the first series. My favourites are Walter, Jesse and Hank.

Same here Tony, I mostly got into it to get through work at home but then I realized immediately from like episode 1 that I LOVE this show :clap1:
S1 > S2 so far tho but both amazing. Something about the intro to the story is just fantastic. But I think S2 episode 8, which I just watched today, was excellent! And I hear it only gets better in seasons 4 & 5
Epic.

Watched episode 6 last night and it's easily the best episode yet! My, oh my what an absolute rollercoaster of an episode. After Skinny Pete, one of Jesse's friends and dealers, is robbed by a drug addicted couple, Walter gives Jesse a gun and tells him to deal with it. Jesse breaks into their home and whilst waiting for them to return, bonds with their neglected young son. Meanwhile, Walter has his own problem: Gretchen, his ex girlfriend and business partner, comes to his house. Skyler still thinks that Gretchen and Elliot are paying Walt's medical bills, although he's been lying to her and Gretchen. Him and Gretchen later talks things out.
What a disturbing and gripping episode this was. Jesse's relationship with the little kid was really sweet. He treated that kid better in that short time than his parents did their whole life. Amazing acting from that couple, they made me believe they were really drug addicts. The ending where the wife kills her husband was so disturbing and uncomfortable, came out of nowhere. ''I ain't no skank'' will stay with me forever. The end of this episode almost made me cry when Jesse took the kid outside and said "Hope you have a good life."
The scenes with Walt and Gretchen was also amazing. Easily the best episode yet! :clap1:

Yas that episode I remember distinctly on my first watch was the moment I loved the show more :clap1:.
If there's one (of several) things the second season has over the first, it's how much it expanded on Jesse rather than how he was mostly a comic relief sidekick in the first season and not much else.

Without saying any spoilers: Season 2 gets incredible from episode 8 & on (maybe a bit of a filler episode once or twice but overall fantastic)
After the strong second half I'll definitely give the edge to Season 2 over 1. I just still love the way the story was introduced in S1 in every episode tho so that'll always be special to me for this series.
Season 3 is ok so far. Started strong I think the first 2 episodes & then the last 2 have been ehhh ok. On episode 5 of S3 now.
Might post some thoughts on S2 in detail later (in spoilers of course since Tony hasn't got to it yet)

Ahhhh Danny Trejo's character's decapitated head mounted on top of a tortoise, followed by a bomb strapped to it exploding, killing the agents, with one having his leg blown off. :skull: So relieved Hank moved away from it just in time. And not Skyler about to cheat on Walt. I hope not. :worry:

Just watched this episode, it was amazing! Funniest episode so far. :clap1: Poor Walt and Jesse, having to pay 80k to prevent Badger from going to jail. I screamed when they kidnapped Saul and threatened him, only for Walt to expose his identity when he coughed. :joker:
They're so lucky their plan worked in the end. They were so close to being busted, although they may not be out of the woods just yet judging by Hank's face when they arrested the fake Heisenberg. Saul is awesome. Looking forward to seeing more of him. He must be a fantastic and popular character if he was able to have his own spin-off show.

Episode 9 done, another great episode, very powerful and quite emotional.
Jesse's stupidity is a scream, leaving the keys in the ignition switch, unaware that it is drains the vehicle's battery, leaving him and Walt stranded in the middle of nowhere. :joker: And then using their remaining water to douse out the generator when it catches on fire when they attempted to jump start the vehicle. :joker: God knows what would've happened had Jesse been there all alone. He has a lot to thank Walt for.
That ending tho when Walt goes violently ballistic. :omgno:

Just finished episode 11. Didn't think any episode could top 6 but boy i was wrong! 11 is easily the best episode yet! Jersey, you were right, all the episodes from 8 onward are incredible.
I felt really sorry when Combo got killed at the start by that little kid, that was so unexpected. Disappointed with Jesse dealing with Combo's death by smoking meth, not even going to his funeral, I get he's feeling guilty but that's not the way to deal with it. What a shame! And it's bad that he got Jane to relapse again, and her introducing him to heroin. They're both a bad influence on each other.
Gus made his first appearance and what a great first appearance it was, he completely stole the episode, despite his limited screen-time. The scene of him and Walter discussing their business at his restaurant was great TV. The ending was the best when Walt rushed to Jesse's house, finds him and Jane in a heroin induced state, gets all of the meth, plans to deliver it to a truck stop within an hour in exchange of 1.2 million cash. A spanner is thrown in the works when Skyler goes into labour at the exact same time, leaving Walter having to decide what to do.
Epic.

Omg yess Tony, how could I forget that two of the funniest episodes ever (Better Call Saul/4 Days Out) aired back to back of each other :joker::clap1: May have even been my two favourite episodes out of them vs the ones that aired before them :omgno:. That scene where Walt impulsively thinks up a plan B to stall Hank so their framing mission goes to plan is one of the funniest, most wittiest scenes I've seen, both from a writing standpoint and the standpoint of what led Walt to come up with it :joker:. "HAAAAAAANK, I THOUGHT THAT WAS YOUUUU ^___^".
And then 4 Days Out, it shown Walt/Jesse were more than just two people arguing, there was some real care in that episode not really seen as much beforehand, mixed with some really funny traditional jokes to make it one of my all time favourites . Walt Jr. may be Walt's son, but Jesse is Heisenberg's son .

Jane is such a little bitch blackmailing Walt into giving her and Jesse the latter's half of the money. I did think she was just using Jesse and would steal his money, but that ending tho when Walt let her die after she'd overdosed.

Finally finished season 2. What a perfect conclusion to an incredible season! :clap1: The acting in this episode was beyond fantastic. Bryan Cranston (Walt), Aaron Paul (Jesse) and Anna Gunn (Skyler) gave unreal performances. :clap1:
It was heartbreaking when Donald, Jane's father, arrived at her apartment, saw the ambulance and began to weep. It was like he knew what had happened before he even saw it, and a day he'd been dreading. It was too much. :( I couldn't handle it when Jesse broke down to Walt and blamed himself for Jane's death, leaving Walt to feel nothing but guilt. I was hoping he'd confess then and there but sadly he couldn't bring himself to do it.
I do understand Skyler's frustration with Walt keeping secrets from her, but she needs to understand it's for her and the kids' benefit.
Mike made his first apprentice, apparently he's a very popular and important character so looking forward to seeing more of him. Dude seems like a complete badass on first impressions.

Also it was small & not that important but I like how they had Walt meet Donald at the bar tho without knowing who each other were :joker: Small world type scene :fan:
Now you need to slow down Tony, you're catching up to me :fan: (although I'm now at Ep 10 & gonna get into it pretty soon)
Overall I actually think both S1 & S2 are better than S3 (so far) but 3 still keeps on going strong too. Every episode in all 3 seasons is good in some way... even the slower episodes, there's just really great moments & 'little things' put into the story constantly that are hard to not appreciate. The overall story keeps enhancing too so I can't wait to get through more :clap1:

Oop @ Skyler finally discovering what Walt's been doing all this time, how did she figure it out. And then threatening to expose his secret to Hank and their kids if he doesn't agree to their divorce smh. :idc:
Loved it when Jesse bought his parents' house. :clap1: I had a feeling he may do it when his father told him they were selling the place and was delighted when he did. What a boss! They weren't expecting that, the look on their faces was priceless.
I'm very intrigued by those two hitmen. They haven't uttered a single word yet they're so fascinating, you want to know so much about them. When they killed all those people in the truck and blew it up when walking away, not even looking back. Epic!
Gus was amazing again despite his limited screen time. The look on his face when Walt told him he was out of the business, the look of anger, disgust and disappointment, he clearly doesn't take no for an answer. And when he said to Walt ''enjoy your meal'' what he really meant was ''you ****ed up big time'' Such an awesome character! :clap1:

How is Walt the bad guy? What he's doing is for a good cause, he's not doing it for fun or because he's bored, he's doing it so that his family can have a good life after he dies. Skyler's been nothing but selfish, childish and unfair with how she's been treating Walt, even after he's confessed everything.

The Walt/Skyler situation is pretty complicated tbf. On one hand, Walt was doing it for the good of his family (treating his cancer, having money for them) but he was still hiding a whole other life from her for a while & what he's doing is illegal obv & a lifestyle someone like uptight Skyler would NOT be about  On the other hand, Skyler knows Walt's intentions too and was being a bit shady & stubborn in ways (and of course the stuff with Ted). I think you can kinda blame/defend both in some ways.
I like Skyler's character tho, interesting
Slightly spoilery for S3 on Skyler:
Tbf Skyler's attitude gets a lot more tolerable in S3 and she does a lot for Walt & goes through the forgiving process well for the situation she's in.
On another note, the finale of S3 is GOOD AF! I'd say especially ~the first 10 & last 10 mins have INCREDIBLE scenes :clap1:
General character notes from S3:
- I'm starting to really love Mike. :joker:
- Saul is probably my favorite character lowkey :fan: even tho he hasn't even been all that relevant in S3 (& kinda in general)... just funny, my kind of side character that I'd also love in a BB type show lol
- Jesse is getting very complex, a lot of good with the bad with him. Also been one of my fave characters since the start.

Omg episode 7 is the best episode of season 3 yet. The acting performances from everyone, especially Aaron Paul (Jesse) and Dean Norris (Hank), was phenomenal.
Poor Jesse, being beaten to near death by Hank was shocking, brutal and so depressing. The look on Hank's face after realising what he's done and stopping before he almost killed him :omgno: I really felt for both of them in that scene, you couldn't pick who to side with. And then Jesse telling Walt and Saul that he was gonna make Hank pay for what he's done at the hospital is some of the best acting I've ever seen. Such a powerful scene. :clap1: I'm glad he doesn't go through with it in the end and instead resumes his partnership with Walt.
That opening flashback was so hard to watch, with those two hitmen, cousins Leonel and Marco as kids. Their uncle almost killing Marco must've been a very traumatic experience for both, and the start of a violent life.

I wonder who warned him on the phone tho.
It was Gus. :joker:
That isn't me spoiling any scene or anything btw, it doesn't get mentioned again anyway but it is Gus' voice when talking to Hank. He just doesn't recognise it's Gus because of the tone of voice being used.

Finished episode 8, another incredible episode. :clap1: This show is the gift that keeps on giving.
When Walt saw Leonel in his hospital bed, both his legs amputated, and Leonel recognised him, jumped out of his bed and began crawling towards Walt, it felt like something out of a horror film. It was so terrifying. I did find it funny when Walt lied to Gus about his lateness being due to Gale, but Gus is not a stupid man, and visited the hospital, where a nervous Walt could do nothing but sit there.
Gus is so damn ruthless, getting Mike to kill Leonel so he doesn't reveal to Juan Bolsa who told him to kill Hank. And then Gus having Juan killed at the end. He's so evil, I love it!

S4 E1 Wow this season is off to a crazy start
Knew Victor would be the one killed once Gus started changing clothes, and it became obvious when he stepped right in front of him the way he did, but such a “WOW” powerful, demented scene nonetheless!
Gus is such an insanely well done villain character. Composed in public (and just in general he doesn’t show his anger much, you can only see it in his straight faced looks) but really he’s an absolute cold lunatic :omgno:

Holy **** what an episode 12 was! :clap1:
The scene with Jesse, Walt, Gus, Mike, Victor and those dealers was incredible! The look of horror, anger, pain and disgust on Jesse's face after Gus warns him to not retaliate against the dealers was great acting from Aaron. He wants to kill them so badly but he realises he can't, and is so helpless against Gus. Gus killed that scene! Mike's recounting an incident from his cop days about an abusive husband who killed his wife due to Mike's own mistake was great to watch too. I'm liking him more in each episode.
The ending where Walt snaps and finally helps Jesse against those dealers was so intense! He came out of nowhere and killed them just as they were about to kill Jesse. Those basterds are ****ing sick, killing poor little Tomas. Although I do wonder if Gus had instructed them to.

Began season 4, what an opener of an episode!
As I expected, Jesse did end up killing Gale, don't know why there was even a part of me that thought he'd miraculously survive it, or had planned something with Walt and Jesse to fake his death, thereby fooling Gus and making sure nobody would get hurt in the end. Still baffles me why a guy like him would be in this business.
I'm still in shock at Gus arriving at the lab, not uttering even a single word, making his way whilst still maintaining his silence through Walt's monologue of excuses and justifications for his and Jesse's actions, changing into his hazmat gear, selecting a box cutter, making his way to Walt and Jesse, standing in front of them, and just as I thought they were done for, he unexpectedly slices Victor's throat, completely startling the others. :o:o:o When even Mike is shocked, you know just how serious, ruthless, sadistic and evil Gus is.
When Walt, Jesse and Mike were disposing of the body and Mike asked them if they were certain the hydrofluoric acid would work, to which Jesse replied with ''trust us'' and then a shot of Walt's ''seriously?'' face, as if Jesse hadn't learnt it the hard way. :joker::joker::joker::joker::joker: I shouldn't have laughed so hard at that.

- The meeting with the cartel people & the plot Jesse/Walt came up with to try to kill Gus but Jesse having cold feet
- Jesse’s scene at the drug rehabbing place, changing the story about Gale into one about a dog he killed in order to let it all out basically. Really well-done emotional scene :o
- Hank being totally on to Gus now & with evidence!!!

Episode 8 REALLY great episode
Gus with the smooth answers for everything when he was brought in for questioning.
Hank telling Walt how close he is to proving Gus is the suspect created/included a couple great scenes
Walt on to Jesse that he's hiding things from him after seeing his text
But what was especially great this episode was the Gus flashback to how it all started with the cartel! Crazy! I'm assuming/hoping there's more to come with the Gus flashbacks cause I wanna see more about what exactly he did or who he was in Chile.

What another superb episode!
Gus pretty much rubbing it in Hector's face about the deaths of Leonel and Marco and hinting to him that he orchestrated it out of revenge. Amazing acting from Mark Margolis (Hector), the look in his infuriated face and him being so helpless to do anything about it as Gus mentally and emotionally tortures him, a powerful and really sad scene.
The flashback scene was breathtaking. I never thought I'd express sympathy for Gus of all people, but that scene where his friend gets killed right in front of him by Hector and forced to look into his dead eyes was very powerful and the turning point in Gus' life.
This episode definitely makes you wonder who's worse between Gus and Hector, and whom to feel sorry for more.

That's gotta be the best penultimate episode of the series!
Poor Brock, really hope he pulls through, Gus takes his villain status to another level by having Tyrus poison Brock, framing Walter in the process, manipulating Jesse into thinking Walt was behind it all. That showdown between the two main protagonists tho. :clap1: Jesse wouldn't be able to live with himself if he'd killed Walt then and there. Glad they realised what had happened and decided to end Gus once and for all.
That ending was extremely intense, had me on the edge of my seat throughout. It felt like something out of 24. Gus' spidey sense was clearly tingling, knowing death awaited him once he entered his car. I really thought he would've spotted Walt spying on him from the rooftop.

Holy crap what an explosive finale! Brilliant from start to finish!
Lmfao at Hector when he wasted Hank and his fellow DEA agents' time, making out like he was gonna give them vital information, but only cursing at Hank. :joker: The rivalry between Gus and Hector came to an explosive end, in one of the most shocking and compelling moments of the series, the hatred between them was so deep, enemies since the beginning, enemies to the end. Gus' death was perfectly executed, truly a jaw-dropping moment that you can't take your eyes off. I remember the first time that I watched it and thought he survived when he walked out seemingly unharmed, only to see half his face blown off. Gus has been an entertaining, compelling, fantastic, sympathetic, love to hate villain. The show wouldn't be the same without him.
The biggest WTF moment came at the end when it's revealed that it was Walt who indeed poisoned Brock and not Gus as I (and many people) had thought. Damn, Walt was savage for doing that, and then manipulating Jesse into thinking it was Gus and having him help him kill Gus. That's cold. Walt & Jesse in charge now. I also love that they're back working together as a team starting at the end of S4. They're AMAZING as a working duo :clap1:
Ep 3:
- The way he put in Marie's head that Skyler was acting strange because of an affair with Beneke so it kinda covers his bases when she starts acting up :skull:
- The money splitting scene was great, the way it was pissing off Walt how much money was being taken from their shares despite being the owners :joker:
- End of episode quote was crazy. Something about how maybe the reason Gus killed Victor wasn't just to send Walt a message but instead because of how Victor was taking liberties on his own rather than just taking orders :o After how Mike was taking control of the money splitting, that quote has to have some deep meaning to it :worry:
Ep 4
What's going on between Walt & Skyler is ****ed uppppp :omgno: Edit: To add to that, it's kinda like psychological warfare between the two of them. Skyler didn't actually try to kill herself right? She just wanted to make it look that way so that the kids could be away from them(Walter) and away from potential danger like they were a few weeks back?
I like this new girl whose name I can't remember rn. The way she's so uptight while working within a huge drug dealing operation :joker:
CRAZY scene between Mike & her in either episode 1 or 2 where Mike nearly killed her

Just started season 5.
Walt is becoming so unlikable. It's finally confirmed in this episode that he did indeed poison Brock. He must have a death wish or something with the way he spoke to Mike, telling him so confidently and bravely ''because I say so.'' after the trio's attempt to destroy Gus' laptop which could incriminate all three. Mike and Jesse weren't expecting that. And then how he threatened Saul at the end, saying ''we're done when I say we're done.'' I thought he was gonna beat him to a bloody pulp.
Poor Ted, I couldn't help but feel sorry for him after his accident. And him being so scared of what could happen to him that he'll remain silent over what caused his injury. Poor guy.

Finished episode 2.
Mike is so badass, I'm really liking him more in each episode. Despite his occupation, he seems like a nice guy and is only doing this for his granddaughter, ensuring she has a good life, similar to Walt. That was an epic scene when he knew he was being set up when Chow called him asking him to come to his house on the orders of Chris, another hitman and associate of Mike, and got the jump on Chris, killing him in the process. Poor Chow, he didn't deserve to die.
Mike also had a heart when he spared Lydia, the Madrigal executive who asked him to kill eleven men from Gus' operation in order to tie up any loose ends, an offer Mike refused, to which she then offered it to Chris. I really thought Mike was gonna kill her when he ambushed her in her house, I guess her little daughter must've reminded him of his own granddaughter.
I'm suspicious of Walt's intentions of staring up the meth business again with Jesse and Mike. I know he's in debt after Skyler gave money to Ted and paid for Hank's physical therapy, but there's gotta be an ulterior motive.

I just can't believe the development in some of these characters by S5 :clap1:
EDIT:
Right now: S5 (already #1) > S4 >>> S3 > S2 > S1 but 1 has that early stage nostalgic factor that makes me want to rank it up to 3rd best for the show. All 5 seasons must be my 5 favorite seasons in TV show history tho, it's just truly worthy of this kind of hype

Ugh reading this is definitely making me want to rewatch. I have definitely loved other shows more in their peak but there's nothing that beats Breaking bad imo as a a whole
Episode 7 is my new favorite episode ever. Of anything. Period.
Without spoiling anything detailed for Tony, the first 5 mins are EPIC, the next ~30 mins are entertaining and great buildup, and the last ~10 minutes are INSANE :omgno:
Now in spoiler:
Walt was so damn badass the way he took everything in his own hands and turned these guys into distributors feeding out of his hands like a total Boss :joker: Such a damn powerful scene in the beginning!
Nooooooo not him killing Mike in the end ffs </3
Walt has turned into a MONSTER :skull:

I love that you hate him now too [emoji23] where are you at now? I need to speak about the finale. Actually I need a whole rewatch myself. Honestly the best tv series to ever air
Just finished episode 5 and holy **** at that ending! I can't believe Todd killed that little boy that we saw at the beginning much to Jesse's horror. That came out of nowhere, I know they can't risk it with any witnesses, but it was just brutal the way he shot that kid. It's even worse when the kid did nothing but wave to them. :(
The train heist was amazing. The perfect mix of suspense, action, adventure, comedy and a shocking end.

I forgot to mention I loved the scene in episode 4 of Walt and Walt Jr watching Scarface. :flutter: This show has definitely been influenced a lot by that film.
Fun fact: Two actors from Breaking Bad had appeared in Scarface - Steven Bauer (Don Eladio) played Tony's best friend, and Mark Margolis (Hector) played one of Sosa's henchmen.

I'm so devastated at Mike's death. Truly one of the saddest moments in the entire series. Not gonna lie, I teared up during that scene. I'm so ****ing raging, I can't express how much I ****ing despise Walt! And smh at him realising he could've just asked Lydia for the 9 men and shooting Mike was unnecessary. He truly has become a monster! Poor Mike, I also felt sorry for him when he couldn't even say goodbye to his granddaughter in the park due to the police searching for him and had to flee. :(
Overall a very emotional episode, one of the best for sure, but one of the saddest too.

I’m about to start Episode 10.
8 & 9 :clap1:
Both great/crazy episodes, especially the endings of each
In episode 8, Hank finding the book in Walt’s bathroom that makes him realize Walt was the Heisenberg all along
Followed by end of Episode 9 where Hank & Walt have that talk in Hank’s garage fffff :omgno:
In general I always loved how they had the brother-in-law working for the DEA trying to crack the code. Walt was always right under Hank’s nose, it’s just such a good plot right from the core of it alone.
Side note, I seriously love the Lydia character :joker:

I can't believe Walt got all of Mike's men and his lawyer killed in their prison. Those deaths were so brutal and gruesome. :o And a :( at Walt disposing of Mike's body at the beginning, Jesse was so close to discovering it in the trunk of Walt's car. :fist:
And when Mike told Skyler he was out of the business for good and it looked like things were finally better between them, shook at Hank finding out Walt is Heisenberg at the end. Things are about to get a lot worse now. :omgno:

Wow what an incredible episode 11 was!
I'm still in absolute shock at Walt blackmailing Hank and Marie. The confrontation scene between the three and Skyler was amazing, intense and absolute perfect TV. When Walt had given them a DVD, I thought it was his ''confession'' but it turned out to be him blackmailing them, accusing Hank of being the mastermind behind the Heisenberg empire and forcing Walt to cook meth for him. Ugh what an unexpected turn of events! My jaw was on the floor the entire time throughout that. Walt's done a lot of horrible things but that just may be the worst yet.
I was so over the moon when Jesse realised that Huell had pick pocketed the ricin cigarette that he previously believed Gus did to poison Brock, and finally concluded that it was Walt behind it all after Saul confessed his involvement in it.
I can't believe I've only got 5 episode left! I don't want it to end!

Finale & some final thoughts
The way Walt went through every step of that finale was incredible. Great post-Heisenberg story/conclusion in these last two episodes for Walt after everything's said and done. Jack's crew = excellent final villains for this season/show and the way they were taken out was super creative. Just a total nightmarish disaster ending for so many people on the cast (ie. not a happy ending) yet there's a bit of a happiness / closure there to make it a feel-good ending at the same time. I like that a lot. Kind of a happy non-happy ending? Idk but it just all felt so right & complete. :joker: I feel like this show did everything right from start to finish.
Closed the book on this season just perfectly and I feel like I wanna watch it all over again already ffs :skull:
Decided to start Better Call Saul tonight and ehhh the premiere is a bit lackluster tho but
So shocking / kinda nice to see Tuco at the end :joker: I did like the ending to that episode quite a bit. And I do like Saul a lot so not minding him as a main character either :clap1: The plot was just a bit boring and I'd have liked the premiere to catch my attention a bit more.

I thought it was the best possible end they could give Walt without going too far, it was the most redemption he deserved. He apologised and accepted everything was his fault, he saved jesse and then died. That was justice and what was right imo

Tony did you make it through the episode? :worry: :joker:
I certainly did! What a grippingly, jaw dropping, brilliantly executed hell of an episode, a rollercoaster of pure emotion and one I didn't wanna get off from.
Devastated by Hank's death. I could see it coming from a mile away when the shootout began, knowing him and Gomez were outnumbered and outgunned. Even with the odds against them, and being friends for a long time, they went out in a blaze of glory! They're heroes, both of them. When Walt was begging Jack to spare Hank's life and begging Hank to just cooperate with them and forget about the investigation, I was shouting at the TV screen, really hoping that Hank would do it. However, I knew deep down that Hank wouldn't, he's a DEA of honour. That was a truly heartbreaking moment when Jack did shoot him and Walt collapsed to the ground in tears and despair. I didn't think anything could be sadder than Mike's death, but this has just topped it. Amazing acting from everyone.
When Walt found where Jesse was hiding to Jack and his men retrieved him, I thought that was finally it for Jesse, my favourite character in the whole series was about to meet a terrible end. I'm suspicious of Todd's intentions when he intervened just as Jesse was about to be killed. That was sooooo cold of Walt to finally reveal to Jesse how Jane died, how he was there that night, how he could've stopped her but chose not to. How could you be so heartless, Walt?
Walt had completely lost it when he took Holly and fled after his argument with Skyler and Walt Jr. I was indifferent to Walt Jr for most of the series but I loved him during that scene when his parents were fighting and he pulled Walt off his mother and called the cops on his father. The acting was incredible from Anna Gunn (Skyler) when Walt took Holly, really powerful and believable. And mess later on when Holly uttered her first word saying ''mama'' several times to a saddened Walt.
Overall this has easily been the best episode of the whole series, one of the greatest TV episodes of all time, maybe even the greatest? Everyone's performances in this episode was beautiful, but Bryan Cranston was in a league of his own. He deserved every penny he got.
Just need to finish off the last two episodes but I doubt they'll come anywhere close to episode 14.

What an explosive and tearjerker finale that was. :clap1:
I'm so happy Walt got revenge on Jack for killing Hank. I was worried for a second he wouldn't but I was satisfied when he did, and what a badass, genius and creative way to kill him and his men. :clap1: I was so relieved when they brought Jesse out to show Walt that he was their prisoner and not their partner like Walt thought and Walt tackled him to the ground, used the remote unlock button to fire the machine gun through the building's walls, saving Jesse's life.
Even after everything that's happened between them, Walt still cared enough about Jesse to prevent him from being killed. I loved it when Jesse strangled Todd, justice for Andrea and Drew Sharp was indeed served! It was also brilliant when Walt got revenge on Lydia too, planting the ricin in her tea during her meeting with Todd at the coffee shop.
I'm so glad Jesse didn't kill Walt when he gave him the gun. He could've easily have killed him there and then especially after everything Walt's done to him, but like Walt he still cares deeply for him.
The ending was so bittersweet. I'm delighted that Walt had met his end in a blaze of glory.
This show is now easily my all time favourite TV show ever! One hell of a ride, packed with top tier acting, unforgettable moments and a host of glorious characters.

Finally watched El Camino last night and loved it! I love thriller films and this is easily up there. The suspense was great, the acting was incredible from Aaron Paul and the flashbacks were amazing. It was weird seeing Todd overweight. I know they filmed the movie 6 years after the show ended and the actor has changed but it was still weird.
I loved seeing Skinny Pete and Badger again. They were both fantastic supporting characters and I'm really glad they weren't killed off. They really need their own spin-off show.
The only criticisms I can give are:
1. Mike and Jane's flashback cameos weren't long enough, especially the latter. They both played huge roles in the show and in Jesse's life but we only saw a few seconds of them compared to Walt's 5-10 minute flashback. I was so looking forward to seeing Jane again, but ended up being so disappointed. She only had 2 lines in a 30 second cameo wtf. :umm2:
2. No Gus Fring. I was so disappointed to not see Gus again. Like Walt, Jane and Mike, he played a big role in Jesse's life so it would've been interesting to see a flashback between them, maybe one in which Gus complimented Jesse seeing as he was beginning to like him after the whole cartel drama and was thinking of Jesse becoming his apprentice or something. Literally anything just to see Gus.
Apart from that, it was a great film and it concluded Jesse's arc perfectly.
8/10.
