Ryan Murphy revealed that an American Horror Story spinoff, called American Horror Stories, is in the works!

Ryan revealed in an Instagram post featuring a Zoom call that included Jessica Lange, Kathy Bates, Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson, Billie Lourd, Emma Roberts, Cody Fern, and many more

Ryan posted, "'American Horror Story' cast zoom call...where we reminisced about the good times...the spin off we're doing called 'American Horror Stories' (one hour contained episodes)...when we will start filming the next season of the mothership...and other stuff I cannot print. It was so much fun and I'm glad we caught up. I miss everyone!"

The one hour contained episodes seems to mean that each hour will be its own original story. It's unclear if the show will also air on FX..

Tbf, he's only once or twice been able to sustain a story for a full season.

This actually sounds really good, a few of the series have been a bit of a trudge so unconnected stories sound great.

I actually think a middle ground would be best… like mini-anthologies if 3 to 4 episode long stories. An hour is a bit short for a full horror story BUT the full season arcs are always over-stuffed and come off the rails at the half way point.

Unless they get Jessica Lange back it’s going to be very odd, she was such a big part of the show and Constance has such a huge connection to the house, it wouldn’t make any sense for her not to feature esp as it revolves around Tate essentially

It looks intriguing although I'm unsure of the format. Is the Murder House the framing device and each episode is just the story of it's latest victim?

Have they said how long each episode is?

No. Each episode is a completely new setting and new story IIRC.

One or two of them will be set within already established AHS settings, of course because Ryan Murphy doesn't seem to know when to stop.

That was my understanding anyway.

Yeah the first two episodes are set in the Murder House as a two parter

The rest of the season seems to expand on already existing AHS Lore (so probably other Covens/Supremes, The Piggy Man, etc etc)

I felt the dads being dead was reductive af after the violet twist and also I didn’t like how we didn’t see ANY of the original ghosts (I get that kids would have all ages) but Ben could have made a cameo :fist:

I got round to watching the first two episodes, I thought the first one was one of the best episodes of AHS in a long while but the second part was all over the place.

Half the story felt like it was missing because they jumped forward too much in the second episode, and I think they should have introduced Ruby in the first part since her introduction felt really messy and out of place with where the first episode ended. I also thought it was a bit ridiculous that the teenage girls would just be like 'you know what? We forgive you because there's only five minutes left in the episode, go have your happy ending!'

I liked the first part a lot, but they just did the typical AHS thing of going crazy in the second half of the series (Or second episode, in this case) and derailing the story completely.

Agree that the first was definitely better than the second

I got around to watching the Drive-In episode and it was woeful.

They obviously didn't have the budget and the pacing was terrible for it. Like 'Oh no! Zombies! Let's wait in a room until the morning and then go to a random caravan to have 15 minutes of exposition and then the episode will end!

One of the worst AHS episodes I've seen and I'm including Cult, Apocalypse and 1984 on that list.
