The Premier League season is set to restart on 17 June with Aston Villa v Sheffield United and Manchester City v Arsenal, the BBC has learned.
The matches are the two games in hand.
A full fixture list would then be played on the weekend of 19-21 June.
Clubs are still discussing the idea at a meeting on Thursday, but it is understood all have agreed in principle at this stage.
There are 92 fixtures still to play.
The Premier League was suspended on 13 March because of the pandemic and it will be 100 days after Leicester City's 4-0 win over Aston Villa on 9 March that competition will resume, with games now behind closed doors.
On Wednesday, clubs unanimously voted to resume contact training, having started non-contact training last week.
So far 12 people have tested positive for coronavirus after 2,752 tests across the league.
Premier League players and staff will continue to be tested twice a week, with the capacity increased from 50 to 60 tests per club for the fourth round of testing.
Any players or staff to test positive must self-isolate for a period of seven days.
Plans for the third phase of Project Restart include a step towards normal training and build-up to competitive games.
Liverpool currently sit 25 points clear at the top of the table while Bournemouth, Aston Villa and Norwich City are in the relegation places.

Massive advantage to man city is a bit unfair, but good to get the league won.

Yes!! I’ve felt so lost on the weekends with no football on.

How we would all laugh if Liverpool threw it away now :hehe:
Are the matches gonna be at home grounds then rather than neutral venues
I'm sorta pleased but it's an absolute mind**** for relegation threatened teams, gonna be such a surreal survival battle

where are these games being played?
at the usual grounds, the exceptions may be if there are local derby games or the like where crowds may gather at the ground

And when a team might win the league, so nothing for Manchester to concern themselves with.

Surprised that I haven’t missed it as much as I thought I would.
Maybe because I know The product that will come back Behind Closed Doors is hard to get excited by.

yeah, having watched a couple of the german games i found it pretty mediocre. Also, the only teams with anything meaningful to play for are in the relegation zone, which means crap football. There is zero point in competing for places in a european competition when its likely it wont take place

they are getting more positive tests at each round of testing, I think restarting and, more importantly finishing the league is going to get more and more difficult
Drew.

Did they not start with 6 positive tests which went down to 0 a week later?
Denver

A few positive tests out of over a thousands people is nothing really
There was only one player who tested positive in the latest round which was from Spurs

Dunno if it's been posted already because I have someone on ignore but there'll be four games aired for free on the BBC.
Bournemouth v Crystal Palace - June 20
Norwich v Everton - June 24
The other two haven't been confirmed yet. I believe there are other games "free" on Sky Sports and Amazon Prime but I don't know how that works with their subscriptions.

the sky games are being shown on Pick when they are free and Amazon stuff will be available to watch on Prime without a subscription

I heard on LBC the other day that Sky were considering playing crowd noises in the background to make it more realistic depending on what kind of system the sound engineers could come up with .

Summer transfer market for this year to be divided in 2 phases
first phase from 1 July to 21 July
unknown when second phase will open, but it is confirmed that one will last for 9 weeks
it must be matching up to most european countries their transfer markets
it is more because some wanted to resume their competitions still later on
unlike others such as Netherlands who ended their season earlier
that is why it moves some of the dates this year until all leagues have finished their season
posting it here since i cannot find a article in english about this, but trust me i read this on our dutch football news sites

Well I tried watching a couple of Bayern Munich games in empty stadiums and no crowd noise and even though I hadn’t seen a game for ages I just didn’t like it ..
I’ll have to search online for some crowd noise and chants then play it at the sane time as watching the upcoming games on telly

they have crowd reactions to events on the pitch, so it's pretty cool in that respect .... much better than the first german games

Sadly not on SkySp PL 102 .. I can hear about ten voices .. that said they just mentioned that they’re playing crowd noises on SkySp Main event and that sounds much better to me .
How come lowly La Liga have managed to incorporate crowd noise AND cgi fans in the seats as well ??
Just seems more life like than the empty stadium

no, it's on sky sports, when sky are doing free games they will be on the Pick channel too

I’ve just been flicking back and forth between the two options and I can’t understand anyone choosing the empty stadium sound option !!
I read online that it’s the ‘true’ reflection - like being in the stadium BUT normally you’d be surrounded by thousands of fans so I don’t agree with that notion.
