Did anyone else see what Dermot did on BBLB today?
Dermot was saying that Amanda did the most laps so far in the swimming task and Brian did the least. He then said that Brian said he's never been a good swimmer.
Dermot then says that's racist?
What the hell? Since when is a black man calling himself a bad swimming being racist to himself? I think Dermot was being racist bringing racism into wether or not a black man can swim or not. It was quite offensive really.

I know, how can he get away with implying that Brian can't swim because he's black!
Although it was said in the heat of the moment like Emily, he himself was implying the racist part whereas the word was when she said it, so in some ways it's a bit worse. (Obviously on the whole it's not because of the history of the 'N' word.)
Dermot has been really cruel lately, especially to Shabnam. I didn't really like her that much but they are so unnecesaraly nasty. He's really starting to p!ss me off.

There is nothing racist in the comment really !
Because he said that Brian isn't a great swimmer, everybody thinks it's racist because he's black ! That's stupid ! So now because people are black we can't say anything to them...

Why did Dermot then say it's racist? It isn't racist at all because Brian can't swim. What I do find offensive is the fact that Dermot called it racist.
I think you've all either not watched it or do not understand what I meant by the first post. I wasn't calling it racist to call Brian a bad swimmer. I think that's a pathetic thing to say, which is why I'm annoyed/confused why Dermot would, and DID call it racist.
Dermot could be seen as being racist for bringing the word racism into something completely unrelated to the colour of the person.
Maybe it was written down on the board and he was meant to say it, as it could have possibly been written by a producer. Brian may actually be a good swimmer, just lazy. I didn't hear him say in any part of it that Brian actually said that himself.

I clocked that aswell, had to rewind it back a couple times to make sure I heard it right. What could he have meant by that?:puzzled: He knew he'd said something wrong because he instantly tried to cover it up afterwards.

Dislike Dermot since BB5 when he ran a virtual hate campaign on BBlB ,Doing everything he could to destroy certain HM,s.Dermot has been going too far for a while and needs to be pulled up about it.I have never watched BBLB since and will not watch the xfactor now either.:bigsmile:

Exactly...I think that's the issue. When I heard him say it, I was a little taken aback but wasn't sure why exactly. Not to say that Dermont is racist, but it was an inappropriate thing to say, especially considering that it is a very touch subject in general and more so where Big Brother is concerned.
I wonder if Ofcom has received any complaints about this.
