Interestingly at first I thought one of the cops bent down towards the old guy ( to check on him ) and was moved on by one of his colleagues BUT after watching the clip a few times I actually think that he may have just bent over him to ‘curse’ at him ..

The only defence i will give to like 3 cops is from the other side of the road because just 3 out of the around 50 looked concerned and looked like they wanted to go over but told to "hold the line" and look forward. Then 1 kept breaking his glance looking over. HOLD THE LINE FOR WHAT? There wasn't even a protest at that point there?

It is dangerous that this is turning into a ‘hatred’ of all cops. It’s a small minority of people in the force that are like this. Cops in general (bar the small minority) put themselves In danger to protect us all and get little thanks. Every cop I know is a great person.
The cops in this video are clearly in that minority and are disgusting to allow that man to remain bleeding

If there are multiple major incidents of police brutality daily then it's not just 'a few bad apples'. It's happening in multiple states all across the the US. The system is not working and defending the corruption at the heart of it achieves nothing.
It's not just a few bad cops because for every violent officer, there's dozens around him that do nothing to prevent or protect the public from the bad ones. Allowing this **** to happen is just as bad as doing it yourself and hundreds if not thousands of officers over the past few days have shown themselves compliant in brutality.

Sorry but you can't even have 1 bad cop. It ruins the batch and rightfully so.
Can you imagine having a bad pilot? A pilot deliberately crashing a plane killing all on board, "oh it's only one pilot"
NO.
Ive followed cases like this since 2010 and I have seen over 200 deaths in front of me and over 1000 uses of force that were unacceptable. and the huge majority of cops get away with it.
I have no time for these disease ridden thugs. Even the cops who knelt later pepper sprayed peaceful protesters.
So if I lived in the US I wouldalways be scared for my life when I see an officer. If you are scared, they'll just help you by killing you.

The fact all 60 of the cops are adamant he tripped when we all saw what happened is discussing
The fact he's bleeding from the head and none of them seem to care is really horrifying. I also cannot believe they filmed themselves beating up the guy in a hospital bed. You have to be a truly twisted sicko to do something like that.
Looks like there will be a lot of cops looking for new jobs soon!

New York seems to be the only State who is wanting reform, their Mayor is not messing and has said he will make sure officers are sacked if they do wrong

This is all so true. I'm really fed up of hearing people say "not all cops are bad" as a poxy excuse to try to continue to hail them as heroic peacekeepers within communities when the footage shows a drastically different picture.
We all know not all cops are bad, but what we also know is that these videos being plastered very thick and fast all over Twitter clearly show uniformed officers, on duty, abusing their power in the grossest and most inhumane of ways.
There's an awful lot of cops in America, and probably the majority of them are pretty nice do-gooding guys, but that doesn't erase the fact that tens of HUNDREDS of white men within that profession are misusing their power and treating many American citizens like vermin. And the ones that don't? They seem to be bystanding anyway, which is not something to feel noble about at all.
caprimint
05-06-2020, 10:24 PM
Likewise nobody is saying "all cops are good". It's those who are saying "**** the cops" as though they are one that's creating the only problem here.
Marsh.
05-06-2020, 10:26 PM
The entire system that allows these thugs into positions of power is corrupt and in need of a complete overhaul. So, saying there are "a few bad apples" doesn't mean much as the entire system that allows the "few bad apples" to flourish is the problem.
Cops deserve to feel lampooned, and they also deserve to be generalized by the stigma of being unfair and unjust. They belong to a fundamentally racist and oppressive institution. If they have a problem with that, why don't they join the movement and demand reform?
Any cop out there tear gassing people and using unnecessary violence deserves every bit of anger and name-calling they get. Any cop bystanding and allowing it to happen deserves the same.
If you have such a problem with the generalization of cops then perhaps you should think whether it is fair that you generalize all black people.

this sort of thing is the big eye opener for me. I get that a lot of the police in the USA are not well trained, so when events occur, they are just not prepared to deal with them correctly and that is certainly a contributory factor in all of this, but the police seem to have been specifically picked for the force because they have undesirable attributes one of which is that they are racist.
I listened to a BLM leader talking earlier in the week and he suggested that the police force should be disbanded because it had been shown they were causing more harm than good. My reaction was you have got to be joking, what could be more ludicrous, but the more I see and hear, the more I think something very fundamental has to change within the police force, it's not just a tweak here and a tweak there

With the first 3.. i can guarantee these would have been all been brushed under the carpet if only seen by a few people, but those videos garnered massive attention, so the cops are crapping themselves.
As for the protesting one... that implies for protesters in general. I believe if riots happen, then people can be prosecuted. But in the past week we have seen peaceful people being arrested, i d believe they can no longer do that, and if they do and arrive at the station, they will be told to let the people go immediately.

True! It's ridiculous. Many people reported that thousands of people went to the scene in Buffalo, put up signs and wrote the elderly mans name in chalk where he fell with "get well soon". And the people said that they saw 1 or 2 police officers standing way back.
Perhaps they didn't want to face the city that had been internationally shown as having a massive problem! I am guessing they were told by the "higher ups" to stay away from protesters.
And thank you Cherie! I hope you are well!

Well, good. Peaceful protesting should never be criminalised. Maybe they should be more considerate when it comes to social distancing, and being part of a protest shouldn't change that, but peaceful protesting itself is A-okay.
When things like water cannons and gas exist, there's no reason full on riots should happen.
Sadly they only resigned from the "riot" side of things. They are still normal police officers. Great, 57 more officers conducting traffic stops and killing unnamed people!
So they resigned from from the riot duties ( the real dangerous stuff) .. surely that won’t sit well with their colleagues.
