Sometimes the best songs are ones you think you’ve heard before -- but from a different artist and a different time. “Blinding Lights” is like that. The opening drumbeat is a DeLorean back to Michael Jackson’s “Beat It.” The amphetamine synth conjures fond memories of leopard-print-era Rod Stewart’s “Young Turks” -- or maybe that other guy with the avian hairdo, Mike Score from A Flock of Seagulls? And isn’t that spooky B-movie organ from Rockwell’s “Somebody’s Watching Me”? Whoah, stop thinking so much, dude, and let Abel Tesfaye’s Drambuie-drenched vocals bathe you in euphoria as you bop around your home in an M-95 mask, punching your fist to the “Hey!-Hey!-Hey!”’s, and giving thanks to Max Martin and The Weeknd for making a magical and much-needed tonic for troubled times. -- FRANK DIGIACOMO

Well deserved :clap1:

Don't get me wrong it's a solid song but it's not even his best song of the year or Song of the Album :joker:

Heartless >>>>>

Faith or After Hours if I’m being honest, but Blinding Lights is third and is hit of the year for sure tbf.

Not only is it the most streamed and biggest song this year; but the Song is STILL in top 10 of streams for UK and US and Top 5 for downloads nearly 8 months later.

Pretty much one of the few #1s this Year that’s actually had longevity and was actually organically successful... especially in Pop. True King **** :clap1:

And to think when it first came out, Heartless was doing much better and looked like the hit  Only Adele is stopping this man from deservedly sweeping award season.

History is made.

The Weeknd's former four-week Hot 100 No. 1 "Blinding Lights" holds at No. 5, as it tops the multi-metric Hot R&B Songs chart for a record-extending 27th week.

As for its Hot 100 longevity, "Lights" spends a 28th week in the top five, breaking the record for the most time logged in the region over the chart's 62-year history

Pretty insane longevity on the song considering it’s been a weird year where you can count on one hand the songs that have actually had real staying power.

Grammys better not pigeon hole this as R&B only now :fist:

It's more synthy than it is R&B.
