I know LT won't accept this as truth because it's from twitter, but for the rest of you, congrats.

I stayed in Coatbridge for a while so would like to disagree with the findings.

The West Highlands on a clear day are ****ing spectacular - the issue is a combination of weather and predictability. The weather is awful 3/4 of the time, and the other 1/4 is completely unpredictable, so you could plan a lovely trip up to Fort William in July (the drive up is breathtaking) ... and have it pouring rain the whole week. Then SURPRISE it's glorious in mid April when you're sat at home.

We took a trip up at Easter 2019 and the weather was perfect - it's the first time I've been able to say "Ohhhhh yeah I see it now, the scenery is amazing". I'm 35 and have lived here my whole life :joker:.

I do want to see a lot more of what we have to offer tbh, as I've seen nowhere near enough of my own country.

I'd also add that Inverness/Loch Ness is basically a horrible tourist trap, and the drive up on the east side is boring as ****. Even if you're determined to see the loch... head up the west side and across. Srsly.

I think I have been to most of Scotland now (not Shetland) and north of say Stirling it's bonny.

I dunno... Dundee is north of Stirling :joker:. Although there's some nice enough scenery on that drive too, to be fair, so long as you don't actually go into the city centre. Although, that's had a lot of work done since I lived there.

Then again, right up North you have Inverness which is an actual sh**-hole.

Again if anyone is ever planning to visit the highlands, I cannot emphasise enough, head up the west side towards Fort William/Skye. NOT up the east to Inverness. Just avoid, really. Loch Ness is easily driveable cutting across the way from the west coast too... but honestly it's become a tourist trap and is just a bit... tacky. There are many other lochs that are lovely and quiet :joker:.

I did one of my internships in Edinburgh and Glasgow in 2010-2011 and took the opportunity to travel through the country all weekends.
Damn what a slap in the face. Wonderful!
And people are more "genuine" than in London or Manchester where I lived for some time.

Though we all know France is the most beautiful country in the world (I said what I said, it's my home-country, so call the police and sue me if you don't agree lmao)

I'm like 20% tempted to go to Scotland for my "forever home", the other 80% being somewhere in the West Country <3

I have a week off at the end of August - tempted to do a bit of driving and see some places up North. Most places I've yet to discover.
