For a 20 year old episode of a TV shows in a time slot that doesnt do very well against a show that got over 7m it can be considered a hit

It was also up at something ridiculously high like 360% up for the younger demographic which is huge for, as adam says, a repeat of a reality show from 20 years ago.

Like it could’ve been higher and it could’ve been better but they had quite big competition and it outperformed the channels other shows.

and the girls seriously want this show back? it'll flop to oblivion again. give it another 5 - 10 years.

I appreciate the nostalgia clip show, but it's clearly lockdown filler to represent twenty years of BB and nothing more.

While I do believe it shouldn't come back yet you cant compare old episodes on a sister chanel to what it may get on the main channel

Discussions for this series started five months before lockdown started.

BB got 440k, LI Australia got 490K

Not great considering that the LI is a repeat and is from 2018 but I guess the demographic is very different.

Unfortunately Channel 5 have tainted BB for younger crowds, were as when I was at school in early 2000s, BB was the talk of the school, especially the Nadia season. Channel 5 made BB uncool.

I would suggest if C4 bring it back they need to completely strip it down with a civilian cast like the early seasons who are natural on camera and none scripted.

BBBSE averaged 450k viewers last night, doublIng the E4 average and it also BEAT LoveIsland which had 390k

Honestly I don’t really see how people can get excited about it beating a repeat of a foreign love island :skull:

So Big Brother overtook Love Island AU amongst total viewers, but Love Island remained ahead amongst 16-34s.

Aren't these ratings 'overnight' figures and don't count time-shifted viewing, which can add quite a bit?

They are yeah, so the official figures will take into account catch up, mobile etc.

They're both repeats if you think about it - BB's repeats are doing pretty well considering they're on a digital channel.

Yeah, that series of Love Island has already aired here on a different channel last year I think, so BB is doing quite well.

It’ll probably flop tonight bc the episode isn’t exactly a classic. Not sure what C4 was thinking when they chose this ep. Maybe it will be good though idk, never seen that series so I’m going into it with an open mind

I think it was Davina and Rylan's choice tbh. Likely Davina based on the preview that was posted.

Slot average for E4 is something like 264k which it’s beaten every day so far.

They’re not incredible ratings by any means but I doubt Channel 4 was expecting anything too extraordinary given that it’s essentially a set of quite awkwardly edited repeats from 20 years ago in some cases.

Overnights are the main factor in whether a show gets renewed or not for all channels other than BBC because advertising isn't the same on catchup

That doesn't mean they aren't advertised at all though. Virtually half of love island's ratings come from catch up and I'm sure itv2 are just fine with that.
