Our Prime Minister, Jean Castex, told us French people to NOT cross the border and go to Catalonia but guess what French people have been doing these days

No we won't. There is increase in cases but not at an alarming level. You can come  Come spend your money over here.

My french boyfriend was hoping to go back home for a weekend in august but he’s cancelled these plans now. Hoping we can still sun ourselves in the Cyclades

...TUI Airlines have cancelled all Spain flights but British Airways and EasyJet are operating as normal, just no consistency with these things...(...there is talk in Spain, but it is just talk etc...)...that Spain may go into full lockdown again.....

it is for the best for them

wish no one would've been going on holiday this year tbh

I've never seen much in my view of wisdom in opening up travel certainly for this year.

Isn't the Transport secretary in Spain.
I guess he'll have to quarantine now then on his return.

That's fine for him, I hope it's as easy for other ' ordinary ' workers doing so, with Companies just beginning to open up again.

Really sad news for Spain however.
I hope they can save as many lives as possible if this is a second wave.

 When were you hoping ti get out there Ammi. My friend has a place on Lanzarote and they are there now and should be for another 2 weeks but don't.know whether to get an earlier flight home in case of full lockdown. She's not too worried about isolating as she can work from home but doesn't want to get stuck there.

I can't believe people are complaining about the new rules with Spain. The country itself fears a 2nd wave, it has already locked down regions. Are people so stupid that they didn't consider further travel restrictions could come in at any time?

Apparently so, and now the complaint is the government acted too quickly

Do people not look at what is going in in the country they plan to travel to? .just bizarre behaviour, the government were clear the lists could change at any time

it was just wrong of people going on holidays in the first place, every country should've also remained in lockdown rather than opening up while the virus is still a huge threat

The UK should have been on lockdown earlier.
I'll always maintain that our government failed on that as part of many failures
More lives could have been saved and even just a few saved would be the best reason to have locked down sooner for me.
It's staggering the attitude of our government to the still hundreds dying weekly.

As to travel.
I never felt it a good idea to relax that so quickly as they have.
So I do agree there too Nicky.

also rules are rules, if you get stuck in the country what goes into a lockdown again, you can't leave that country until lockdown is over again

that is why people (especially dutch people by our RIVM and our health minister) been advised to pay close attention what it is like in country of your travel destination

wish Greece would go back into lockdown either, some of those tourists already brought the virus back there while it was just going well :(

...it isn’t complaining, it’s an obvious disappointment in not having seen my son for almost 8 months and knowing how looking forward to seeing his family he’s been as well, which was only weeks away but now won’t happen...

Nicky91
26-07-2020, 11:09 AM
also not entirely true this, Spain isn't entirely in lockdown, just the places who have clusters (rises in new cases) so more local lockdowns

yes tourists should've known better anyway to pay close attention to their current situation

UK wants a 14 day quarantine on people coming from Spain

minister of transport must also be in 14 day quarantine when he is back home

France discourages its citizens from travel into Catalonia and Belgium, Norway from going anywhere in Spain but nothing forced from those 2 their governments

I don’t think BOTs was referring to you Ammi and I wasn’t either, sorry to hear you won’t see your son, it’s sucks but what can we do, we won’t see any family from Ireland either this year first time since we came to the UK that they haven’t traveled to see us or we to them, it’s a horrible situation, though as I understand it you can still travel if you feel it’s for his or your well being

Why are people moaning about a last minute 14 day quarantine being made for people who coming back from Spain? They shouldn't have gone if its such a big deal as we all knew the travel bubble could end at any minute, only twats go book a last minute holiday in times like this

it wasn't directed at you Ammi.Take a look at the news reports to see people complaining. We have been encouraged by just about every government around the world to think the worst is behind us. They are doing that because their economies need peoples confidence. However, the virus never went away and if people don't social distance it hits back with a vengeance. We should be pleased that the government are moving to protect our populations health. It makes a change

Exactly, the government made it clear from the start that these airbridges could be revoked if cases increased.

People moaning about not being given 48 hours notice as well!!!
why would it make any sense to give a 48 hour grace period. So people can come home, not quarantine, and spread their viral load in britian?

And the people interviewed on the news who have no point to make other than just to state how confused they are. Grade A imbeciles.

Spanish health minister Salvador Illa wants majority of the capital Madrid on a second lockdown

if it was up to him solely, 70% of that region would go on another lockdown, where like 4.7 million people live

but the centre right wing parliament of Madrid is against this proposal, out of economical worries
