Not a Party I'd personally likely ever trust again.
Even moreso after the nightmare leader they had during the last election.
Who apart from the brexit issue.
May as well have been a cheerleader for Johnson and co.
Of these 2, I'd maybe listen more to Layla than the other one.
At 18 I trusted this party with my first general election vote, it was an important choice at the time.
All I got was support for extreme and cruel policies, broken promises and a never ending run of deceit.
So I doubt my hand will ever waver over a Lib Dem candidate on any ballot paper.

I'd be happy to trust them again - their lineup has completely changed since the Coalition, and there's no need to hold that stuff against them.
It would be worth them looking at why they lost so many seats when the big two parties have been pretty awful when the elections were held. They ha the hance to be the "sane alternative" vote and grab the disaffected voters turned away from Labour and the Tories, and maybe form another coalition.

Layla Moran criticising Hamas is welcome, and something which more British politicians should do. Anyone serious about #FreePalestine should want rid of their awful "government" before any discussions are open.
This, along with her lukewarm support of Israel, would have helped the Lib Dems take disaffected voters from Labour, possibly? I know she wasn't the party leader then, but still
Liberal Democrat leadership contender Layla Moran has launched an outspoken attack on the Palestinian militant group Hamas, describing it as “authoritarian, antisemitic and homophobic”.
The MP for Oxford West and Abingdon, who is currently vying with Sir Ed Davey to lead the party, also said that in order to prove itself as a respected member of the international community, any future state of Palestine must hold free and democratic elections.
Ms Moran, who describes herself as a British Palestinian, also stressed her belief in Israel’s “right to exist, with the same rights of self-determination as any other nation.”
She added that “while this is entirely consistent with Zionist beliefs, it isn’t something I call myself specifically as a word”.
The parliamentarian made the remarks while answering a series of questions relating to Israel, the Middle East and matters of importance to the British Jewish community put to her and Sir Ed by the Liberal Democrat Friends of Israel.
As for her view on the claim by many in Israel that there can be no Palestinian partner for peace until democratic elections are held again – that last time was 2005 - Ms Moran said: “Yes, there should be elections in Palestine. Nobody should have a 15-year mandate.
“The authoritarian, antisemitic and homophobic Hamas won the election in Gaza and in true dictatorial fashion, they have outlawed elections.
“I have publicly condemned Hamas and made clear they do not speak for me or my values. The President of the Palestinian National Authority, the internationally recognised head of the government in Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen) has been the official leader of the Palestinian people since 2005.
“If a future State of Palestine is to prove itself as a respected member of the international community it must hold free, fair and transparent elections, as they become a beacon of democracy to the wider Middle East.
“It saddens me to see my ancestral home being run in this way and I cannot wait until the day that Palestine can be a free and vibrant democracy.”

I fear they'll go for Ed Davey, however I'd prefer Layla Moran.
Not that I'm a Lib Dem supporter nor am likely to be.
I just think Layla would be more open to compromising and a more concensus politics, particularly against the awful current extremes of this present administration in power.

Ugh, it is Davey.
He's done next to nothing as acting leader.
Also tarnished from the coalition too.
A backward move by the Lib Dems in my view.
That's the last election a Lib Dem will be winning for a while, then

I've just been surprised how poor he's been as acting leader, at the time he should have really made his mark.
There's been no improvement under his acting leadership, in fact their polling, such as polling can be looked at, has gone down under him.
As with Swinson, I think he'll have problems for the policies supported in the coalition.
The Lib Dems needed a whole fresh start and break from the recent past.
He is just another reminder of that past.
Frankly, to me anyway, he already sounds like one of yesterday's men.

Give him a chance.
Joey.
Nah sorry.
I gave the Lib Dems a chance in 2010.
He as a coalition Minister voted for near all policies I'd trusted them to vote against.
So no way.
As to giving him still a chance, what's he been doing since December for near three quarters of this year?
Nothing of any single note whatsoever.

Give him a chance.
Joey.
I'm re thinking my view of him actually.
He was really impressive on QT last night.
It may well be he could be a more promising leader of the Lib Dems.
Sadly the conferences are just about pointless this year.
They don't work without audiences at all.
I'd be happy to hear more of Ed Davey now though.
You were right arista to say, give him a chance.

That poll doesn't surprise me, plus with error margins such close figures could be out for all really.
I just can't get how 41% still say they'd support this lot.

tbh Green should be higher than it is.
Ed Davey seems decent enough, he needs to reclaim the LibDems' place as "the choice that isn't Labour or Tories." If whatshisface hadn't done so much damage to the LibDems during the Coalition government, I really think the 2019 election could have led to another hung parliament.
Davey needs to make it clear he isn't whatshisface, and isn't Swinson either. Shake the dust of the past off the party's feet and move on.

Maybe people should recall Davey and the Lib Dems under Clegg.
Breaking through the blue wall in 2005 and 2010 then using those votes and seats to put back into power the Cons anyhow.

This is the LibDem problem.
They won't answer that question despite it being blatantly obvious especially now, they could never seem to have anything relevant in common with the Cons.
Voters who are now really turning against the Cons.
Need to recall the Cons have been helped to govern the last 13 years because of the Lib Dems right up to 2015.
Plus the election that made Johnson disastrously PM was strongly supported by the LibDems under the massively deluded Swinson.
Davey really needs to get off that fence the LibDems have been sitting on for decades now on this question.
The LibDems say they want PR, if we had it Parties would HAVE to work together to govern.
So voters would need to have an idea of the Parties positions during election campaigns as to likely cooperating with each other.
That question is one the LibDens have failed to answer in election after election for decades.
