View Full Version : The price of face masks
So I popped up to sainsburys last night but forgot my mask so had to buy some at the cigarette kiosk before shopping.
5 made in china, wear once disposable masks for £5.
And I'm the idiot for not wanting to wear one.:joker:

You do realise you can use a face covering in general, doesn't have to be a mask you buy just as long as it cover's your mouth and nose .

Well apart from sneaking in and ripping off a cabbage leaf to stick to my face I didnt really have another option...so had to buy the masks to keep everyone's face straight

it's simple you wear a face mask, or you stay at home
also you can make own face coverings with a scarf, you can wear sunglasses too (which you'll have now since its summer anyway but protect your eyes too, it can also enter via the eyes)

Good point, about time we made sunglasses compulsory in shops

I put one through the wash by accident and apart from the blue running a bit it was perfectly wearable
i've got 150 medical grade masks, so i think i'm good for a day or 2

The visors are cheap enough online, use them time free time plus they protect the eyes.
Masks are only 65p/70p each in Tesco etc.
Washable masks are only about a fiver for 3 in Aldi/Lidl

Or when there was none....and now all of a sudden theres an abundance for sale at extortionate prices to the whole nation.
And I'm the mug seemingly.:joker:

I think the reusable masks are better since I wouldn’t want to keep spending money on disposable ones all the time. Personally I wouldn’t wear the visor things cause I’d feel a bit too embarrassed but they’re the better option if you wear glasses.

It's not pedantic to want people to wear a mask. Wearing one saves lives, yes they're uncomfortable and annoying, but it is worth wearing them to prevent the spread.
Show me the facts regarding the masks saving lives please.

You think 5 pound is an acceptable price for 5 wear once masks?
It could cost your life
I've been fine since march just keeping to 2 metres...
And fine entering my 1000th different house since the original lockdown, often having a coffee or kids and adults breathing over me..still never caught it..oh how I've tried, but no.
Still you all moan and yearn for that one coffee and chat with a loved one you have all trusted to have been as carefull as you all have have...
Just saying..eh.
I even hugged an elderly lady customer last friday in her house...I had a mask on at the time though.

I do wear one now but it’s bollox, I only started wearing one when it became compulsory, and some big supermarkets are not inforcing the new rule.
And the staff don’t have to wear one.
Utter government bollox.
I would actually be a lot cheaper buying a cabbage and wearing a new leaf every trip..I'm glad I mentioned that cause I might go down that route in future.

If the masses of medical experts that know more about medical science than any of us are all in agreement that masks help prevent the spread of Covid are not enough to convince you then you are beyond help and determined to be ignorant. You don't want evidence, you want a comforting fairy tale that tells you what you want to hear.
As for Shop Workers not wearing masks. Shop workers go to their shop and stay there for hours, if they go into other shops they were masks just like anyone else but the risk of infection comes from shoppers who might go to several different places in one trip. Not wearing a mask just shows that you think shop workers are lesser human beings not worth protecting.
Also a reusable fabric mask costs like £1-£2 in most places. Get into the habit of keeping a mask on you if you're going out.

You don't own a scarf or bandana ? , those have the same effect as a mask that's my point .

I'm at my first auction since march. No mask no entry. One eejit was saying I don't wear one because of a medical condition and the porter told wear a visor or no entry
He said but I don't like them, porter said " it's not about you it's for others"
:clap1:

It's not 1990 fgs so no of course I don't own a bandana.jee whizz the very thought makes my head hurt
It's a bit hot for me to be carrying a scarf around and I have a nice silk washable gap mask that looks like a pair of skimpy knickers when on.
The point is...£5 bloody quid for 5 throw away ones in a high street supermarket is disgusting.

Could have sworn it was a sainsburys...I've only lived here ten years...
So I was up in morrisons......those are the culprits.
Sell by date is july 2022..and they are made in china
Made from high quality non woven fabric..which seems to go out of date by july 2022.
Hmmm..the very date the world gets back to normal no doubt.
Probably inbuilt with corona droplets..probably just paid a fiver to catch corona.

Yes, I'm sure Covid is just a conspiracy to sell disposable masks, that makes so much sense!

Or perhaps the masks aren't needed anymore so the government needs rid of the millions they were forced to buy.

Or, perhaps, all those medical experts telling the world to wear a mask are onto something.
Who knows? They're only medical experts after all.
Where have they all suddenly come from?
My expensive pack came from china.
Usually goods are cheaper if made in china.

A sainthood for making my own time at the shops easier?
Sure.
I need to also say that out of all the different mask I've worn..these ones are the worst for making the looking glasses steam up..even when I pinch.
32 degree on friday though..fantastic for the mask.
Covid 19 key facts that come up on sky says nothing about masks ..
It does say its transmitted by droplets through coughs and sneezes..
Would you sneeze in your mask?
...I always thought that the masks should have been provided free from the government when they became compulsory...maybe society sections do get them free, I hope they do...I don’t know about other countries in Europe but that’s always been the way in Spain, where they were compulsory long before they were here...

I still prefer good reusables. My wife has a massive pack in the car for her work (free), though.
