actually im going to greece next month for 2 weeks so it better be hot there
Nicky91
06-08-2020, 01:47 PM
yes here too, wednesday/thursday quite few thunderstorms predicted which will drive away the heat
after that we go back into the 24, 25's for couple days too
here at night, well tonight it'll be 18 which is not that warm, tomorrow night like 20 degrees, which is 15 down from 35 during the day, also not too warm and i also notice it is getting dark earlier by the day now, which might also be helpful to drive away some of heat, and good to open windows then against each other, maybe a fan on at night too to get some of heat out of house while you sleep

Been up all night with continous thunder and lightning. all local schools are shut and half the flippin roads plus train station. The TLs step dad's street flooded at 2 am so we had to go down but the water was a foot up his door so we could not get in so he just used towels, downstairs hall got wet but his neighbour 4 down got flooded out. The dogs were a shivering wreck. We lost sky at 10.30 and its still off now. I have never seen such continous lightning over such a long period. We had quite a few flash then immediate quarry blast bangs (so very close) that set off car alarms. i am exhuasted :oh:

Lightning produces sferics (radio waves) like when you had your am/mw radio on in the car back in the day and you could hear a distinct crackle for strikes. THis allows for accurate mapping
one of the best sites that also give accurate waves of thunder is
https://www.lightningmaps.org/
you can customise the map and sounds etc

Luckily the kids slept through it mostly - eldest told me she woke up at about 3 and thought something heavy had fallen down the stairs because the rumbling was so loud.
I actually got myself all worried in the middle of the night, half asleep and convinced it was never going to stop. I've never known lightning like that to go on for more than maybe an hour. But actually I don't think I've ever seen flashes that frequent and constant.

It could have been 8 hours to be fair - we managed to be oblivious to it (watching telleh in the living room) until a neighbour texted my wife the cryptic message of "go to your bedroom window and turn off the lights". She said it had already been going on for a while at that point.
