....wow, that is such a messed up story, User...no I don’t think it did hit the U.K., I don’t recall it anyway...Gypsy escaped one prison to spend her years in another..?...I read that she feels at peace with herself and her life now, though, in prison....apparently Munchausen syndrome by proxy had been diagnosed many years before the killing but DeeDee had convinced so many people...so it wasn’t pursued...?...also, Gypsy had tried to escape/run away from DeeDee ...but DeeDee’s control of her was just so encompassing...I can completely understand how prison offers her a type of freedom and why she seems ‘more at peace’...she just isn’t imprisoned within herself and her own body in the way that DeeDee had trapped her, for her whole childhood life....awful, just beyond comprehension, really...it wasn’t Gypsy who was ill, it was DeeDee....

If you can manage to find/watch the series “The Act” (I believe it’s on Hulu) it’s this story as a drama series. Harrowing but excellent. Patricia Arquette stars. I recommend it!

...I haven’t had time to read more than a few articles this morning but I read that when she went to prison, she started to ‘thrive’../..become a healthy weight...because DeeDee had kept her body undernourished/childlike...her child voice was a huge indication of that..?...

Exactly that. She’s thriving in prison and from an interview I saw of her, appears very happy. The abuse she endured that’s depicted in the show I mentioned above is awful. I don’t condone what happened whatsoever but it was sheer desperation on her part I think, a way for it to just “stop“.

...yeah and she wouldn’t have had the physical strength herself, hence her persuasion of Nicholas Godejohn...plus I’ve know children of different types of abuse and their love for their parent/the abuser is still unshakeable...which is obviously a part of the control, to abuse that craving of a parental love that a child has...I’ve no doubt in my thoughts at all that as strong as the need to escape..Gypsy would have completely loved her mother also...when she described her screams, she was in complete detachment and relating in a very ‘gentle’ way...as if this was also helping DeeDee find peace...
