I’m A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! moves to UK for 2020

ITV announced today that the 20th series of I’m A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! will be filmed in the UK. The show will be broadcast live every night from a ruined castle in the countryside.

Ant and Dec will host the series, bringing viewers all the news and excitement of the day.

As on the regular series, viewers will see the celebrities undertake gruelling trials and fun-filled challenges to win food and treats in the lead up to one of them being crowned, for the first time ever, King or Queen of the Castle.

Kevin Lygo, ITV’s Director of Television said:

“We announced last week that we were doing all we could to make the series and I’m thrilled that we can bring the show to viewers albeit not in the jungle. We have a great team both on and off screen and I know they will produce a hugely entertaining series”.

Richard Cowles, Director of Entertainment at ITV Studios said:

“We pulled out all the stops to try and make the series happen in Australia. Unfortunately, due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and despite us looking at many different contingencies, it became apparent that it just wasn’t possible for us to travel and make the show there. However, we are all really excited about a UK version of I’m A Celebrity. While it will certainly be different producing the show from the UK, the same tone and feel will remain.

“Our celebrities will probably have to swap shorts for thermals but they can still look forward to a basic diet of rice and beans and plenty of thrills and surprises along the way”.

More information about the new series will be released in due course

Great, the format was very tired, so maybe a change of location wont do it any harm, plus hopefully the bug/snake/rat challenges will be knocked on the head

If it makes them all damp, cold and miserable, we could be in for a gloriously dramatic series, we haven’t had a proper row on this show for years

I actually quite like the idea of a complete transformation of the show. So having a new location could be the start of that. Imagine it kicking off on halloween week. Lots of jumpy type trials you could still have bugs and spiders and the like for some trials but Im thinking more scare mazey type things!? That would be pretty fun to watch

Yes and its boring and tired to watch year in year out..not to mention how the animals are treated especially the insects

BB had to think of new challenges every series or the viewers would go nuts, not sure why people are so happy to accept this crap year in year out

Nicky91
07-08-2020, 11:21 AM
there is not much eating trials in german's IAC (Dschungelcamp) though

only thing what the animal trials are is like ''fear factor'' style going through a maze with creepy insects who can fall on top of you etc, or not exactly the eating bit but having to recognize several dishes correctly, so more making a quiz out of that

last series was hilarious them thinking they were getting real delicious cakes, tarts and ending up with most disgusting insect pie's, most disgusting smells and through all that having to recognize what they are too :D

I’m all for this honestly. As much as I love and look forward to the show every year, for the past series or two I’ve really noticed how repetitive and predictable it gets with regards to the trials and challenges and even day to day “life in camp”.

With this change the fundamental aspects that we’ve come to expect are gone and potential is therefore endless really. I’m looking forward to seeing what they do with it!

The forthcoming series of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! will take place at Gwrych Castle in north Wales, after the popular show was forced to relocate due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Global travel restrictions meant the annual reality show - which sees a group of celebrities survive in a challenging location with basic rations and amenities - was not able to take place in the Australian jungle as usual this year.

Gwrych Castle, meaning "Hedge Castle" in Welsh, is set on the north coast of Wales, amongst 250 acres of gardens and grounds overlooking the Irish Sea.

"Our celebrities will probably have to swap shorts for thermals," said ITV Studios' Richard Cowles,"but they can still look forward to a basic diet of rice and beans and plenty of thrills and surprises along the way."

Ant and Dec will return as hosts, but the celebrities taking part in the 2020 series have yet to be announced.
