Matt Hancock has said the government have scrapped the system and will start a new one from scratch

So the boss of PHE threw it under the bus to avoid any scrutiny of himself? Sounds about right for a Tory

Well it clearly wasn't fit for purpose - just like Matt Hancock, Whatever Williamson, and most of the current Government...

I agree here Oliver.

I think if if it had to go then so too should the unbelievably incompetent hopeless Hancock.

In any competent system he literally MUST go... if the PHE system failed then that is what it is - but it's a catastrophic failure on his watch. In days gone by he would have resigned from the position immediately and warm a back bench. Not these days though, zero accountability for those at the top of the tree.

Hancock is an incompetent idiot but they wont get rid of him until his replacement can have an easy ride

I can see the logic in that but you'd think it would apply to PHE as well. That they'd let it take the fall when all is said and done. By replacing it now, they only ensure that whatever they set up to replace it ends up taking all of the future flak for Covid-related things.

The new head is married to John Penrose, a tory MP belonging to the 1828 project, a group that is pushing for the NHS to be scrapped and a private insurance system to replace it.

Still, you clapped your hands on thursdays.

Isn't Baroness Harding the one who has made a right hash of Test and Trace  you could not make this shiz up

They better not get rid of Yvonne Doyle or I'm calling that anti Irish police

Why is anyone surprised? Everyone knew the tories hated the NHS, they never wanted it and have done their best to undermine it ever since. Honestly those that voted them in again are as thick as mince!

PHE was set up by Jeremy Hunt

And he wrote a book on how best to dismantle the NHS.
