Should MPs be allowed to take on second jobs?

If I was an MP I wouldn't do so.
I think as an MP, a trusted public duty being elected to by voters.

Then there's really a great deal of work to be done, in parliament, functions, working for constituents and then the constituents surgeries too.

I think that requires full attention myself.

So my short answer would be NO they shouldn't.

Depends on how much they earn. I don't think it's right to claim taxpayers' money for the MP role if they're able to live off of their secondary income (and that applies to any MP who's a landlord, too)

Expenses are fair enough (commuting to Parliament, writing to constituents, paying staff, etc)

Yes, as long as its not hindering their constituency work it can give them more insight into the working world and expand their knowledge/experience and keep them in touch of what's happening beyond the Westminster bubble

Every MP who's in the cabinet basically has a 'second job' on top of normal MP responsibilities so it's fine for those who aren't ministers

it's a difficult one, even in pre-covid times some mp's attendance record at the HoC is abysmal, if that was because they have 2nd or 3rd jobs, then they shouldn't be mp's. However, some very hard working mp's also have 2nd jobs so there isn't a blanket answer. The simple truth is that if they are not representing their constituency effectively then it's up to voters to boot them out at the next election, let the voters decide

No, being an MP is a full time job. They earn extra money from speeches and things that should be enough.
It could also be seen as a conflict of interest depending on who they work for.
