How she though he would not be boasting to his mates is beyond me

...I don’t know any of the story/I’m not clicking the link ...but if she’s found guilty, is the trial ongoing..?...I hope that justice is fully served for the child and family...with a severe sentence for her breach of trust...

Yes first day at Court

[In a video interview with police given on March 11 last year,
the boy claimed the two had continued
messaging for months after he turned 16 years old,
only stopping because the school staff found out.
The complainant added that when called in to speak
to his headmaster, he had initially denied
that he had sex with Barber.

Speaking to a member of the
child abuse team at Aylesbury police station, the boy,
who cannot be named for legal reasons, said: 'I lied because
she had told me she could be pregnant with my child
and I began to panic. I lied to pretty much everyone except my friends.]

...as well as the actual abuse and broken trust...the things that child and family will have had to go through with all of the services involved, for this to come to court as well......it’s just horrendous and so upsetting...I really do hope that (...assuming she’s found guilty...)...she has the maximum sentence...

"Had sex" is a funny way of spelling "rape".

A few teachers tried on with me back in the day.
I told each of em, "back off ya dirty old slag".
The history teachers are the worst from personal experience.

The headline should read 'Predatory married teacher commits statutory rape', making it out to be some sort of affair is quite gross. It's a kid being groomed by an older person in a position of power, not some forbidden romance.

Apart from anything else ... I’m just staggered that she imagined she’d get away with it with nobody finding out ..

[Barber had later implied she would accuse the boy complainant of raping her
if he told the headmaster, at the school where she
worked and he studied, about the affair, it was claimed.]

[The court heard how the boy, who cannot be named
for legal reasons, had shown his ex-girlfriend a topless
image of Barber as 'proof' while
the two spoke in January
last year about their teacher on Facetime, and the
complainant's ex-girlfriend advised him to go to the police.

In a text transcript read to the court,
the boy's ex-girlfriend had said to him: 'If she goes
anywhere near our friend I need you to tell me.
No joke, she's a paedo. People are starting to find
out about you and Mrs Barber now, by the way.

'Why did you not tell me about this?
I am not supposed to talk to you but you
came to me for advice and this is a big deal so obviously I care.'

After speaking to his headmaster about the rumours of the affair at the Princes Risborough School in Buckinghamshire, the boy complainant had told his former girlfriend that he had had a 'police interview'.

Cross-examining the boy, Ms Chbat asked: 'You are giving
her the impression, aren't you, that you have spoken
to the police, but that was not true, you had not spoken to the police.]

It's always portrayed as a "affair". When the adult and predator is a woman .

This is gross, plus she's married and she abused her position of trust .

Another Day in Court.

to friends for a laugh' fuelling rumours that she
was having sex with pupil, 15, court hears – as headmaster
says teenager was 'upset and shaking' when he revealed affair]

You know what else is worrying, how a TEACHER could be so f ing stupid and completely lack any common sense. What on earth did she expect sending naked pictures to a 15 year old boy and thinking he wouldn't boast to his mates!

i think the other worrying side to this is the coercion she employed saying that she would claim he raped her. This is a very serious case

...it’s interesting how during partial school closures...(...always partial because many teaching staff were still working in the schools directly with frontline healthcare worker’s children/essential worker’s children and vulnerable children, for whatever the reason for their vulnerability etc, teaching staff placed themselves at risk of an unknown virus...)...we rightly praised those teaching staff, plus all of those teachers who had to be so inventive in their on line ‘lessons’ and tasks etc...because that’s the general and collective of teaching which is sadly so often not appreciated, but in that time it was...the appreciation did fade quite a bit when it was felt that lazy teaching staff needed to stop their extended ‘holiday’ and get back into their lanes and their classrooms...but now, the calibre of teaching staff is collectively generalised and questioned/criticised because of this one awful person who has appallingly betrayed her position of trust and is thankfully going through the justice system atm...

...what’s also interesting with this...(...and I totally and absolutely and completely am not in any way condoning ...it’s just so saddening to see someone who has a position and role of ‘care’, so abuse a child...its abhorrent ...)....is that I recall other threads with a similar story but reversing it to a male teacher/female pupil and the same trust betrayals...and some responses have been along the lines of....well, 14/15yr old girls etc...(...actually children...)...can be quite provocative/I mean, they just don’t always ‘act’ like 1415yr olds/similar type comments to that...as opposed to, well, what did this appalling woman think...that, that child wouldn’t tell his mates.....even with children and with something horrendous like this, society attitudes can be so differing based on gender and it’s very saddening to see because it adds another layer to something so awful...

I agree Ammi there hasn't been the angle here as there has been in similar cases where the teacher is male. Not saying it's any better or worse but there has been no questioning of the boys character or dress as there usually is.
