View Full Version : Foods you dislike (that others like)

Urban Cragou

Few will deny how unequivocally bland (fruitcake) or out-and-out nasty (gherkins, marmite, brain sandwiches) certain foods are (unless you’re one of them) but are there any popular foods you don’t like and conversely?

I’ll start.

1. Boiled eggs
2. Ham (within certain limits)
3. Tuna

On the flip side I do like foods a lot of people don’t (mushrooms, seafood, sweetcorn).

And only if your reason for disliking them’s borne solely on the basis of personal preference (aka not because of allergies or specific dietary needs).

Pasta/spaghetti is the main one. It’s just... Blergh. Like heated plastic.

I don’t have Spag Bol, I have Rice Bol. :smug: :joker:

Also HATE mushrooms!! Cucumbers I can’t deal with unless they’re really hidden in a salad too.

Mightn’t you as well have chilli con carne in place of “rice bol.”?

Ditto for cucumber still.

Out of the list: milk, coffee, mayonnaise

The thought of every meat/fish grosses me out too but I'm vegetarian

Others: lettuce, bread rolls, gravy, cooked onions, peppers, peanuts (and most other nuts), raw tomatoes, chocolate ice-cream, pretzels

Tuna
Fatty meats
Avocado (actually wish i liked this considering how good it is for you)
Apples
Chocolate (sorry just not a fan, Caramac's are ok)
Ice Cream (it's not the coldness either, i love ice poles)
Ketchup (too sharp)

...there are a few things in that list, Redway...but the main one I’ll say is a cuppa tea, just because it’s the one that even my mum would still say to me...oh go on, just have a little cup, a half cup even....she was Mrs Doyle...sometimes actually, she would just make me a cup anyway and hand it to me...I mean, she never knew me to drink a cuppa tea, not ever...other than my first try, when it made me feel ill...but she still said...go on, have a little cuppa tea....

Offer me a million quid and I couldn’t eat mashed potato, I would be physically sick.
Don’t like offal either.

I like tuna and I can handle white fish (like from a chippy) so long as it's bland and doesn't actually taste like fish. Other than that, I'm not a fan of any seafood at all - especially things like prawns/shellfish. Ugh.

When me and my wife were "new" (and also poor so eating at her parents house a lot) they once made something called "fish pie" and I had to eat it out of politeness, and it's something that just ****ing haunts me now. Sometimes I wake up retching, in a cold sweat, thinking about that fishy mush... prawns were just sort of hiding in there... you never knew when one was going to appear and crunch in your mouth... :bawling:.

+ Avocado just tastes like leaves and dirt.

...I eat white fish as well, but no shellfish...it’s the worst to have a bone in the white fish, though...if there is one, I probably wouldn’t then eat white fish again for quite a while, while I went through therapy....I love fish pie...there doesn’t have to be shellfish or anything in it, that’s the great thing about it...we choose our own fishes for the pie...

King Prawn Fried Rice is such a random thing to be on there :joker:

It’s one that often brings about the most marmite-like reactions. Mostly because a lot of people don’t like seafood itself in any form. That’s why I listed it separately.

I’m a bit of a fussy one tbh.

- I only like crispy onions I don’t really like eating onions that are chopped.
- Cheese for me has to be very mild. You couldn’t pay me anything to eat something like Red Leicester or Stilton cheese it just makes me physically sick, the smell urgh gross. :yuk:
- Tuna, how people can eat this is beyond me, the smell is just really off putting.
- Coleslaw, bit of an odd one because I like Mayo but Coleslaw just looks nasty.
- Pesto just looks like snot or something out of a swamp so that’s an instant no
- Hummus tastes awful and it just looks like a paste or something you’d use for when your decorating your house or something.

I’m gonna stop here before I go on all afternoon

- Onions
- Tomatoes (but ketchup or tomato flavored things/sauces are all fire)
- Beans
- Scallops
- Most soups
- Celery (idk how popular celery is tho)
- Peanuts (but peanut butter is good)
- Sushi kinda? I got used to it a bit but still not a big fan and people GO CRAZY for that stuff
- Bavarian & boston cream donuts (that specific type of cream filling is just NASTY)
- Tea is absolutely disgusting and I only ever try to force it down when I'm really sick/congested

I like most food really :fan:

Edit:

Sweet potato is kinda gross too, at least for the hype when I'd much rather just have regular potato

Melons are the worst fruit, one of the only bad ones actually (the green, orange, and maybe yellow? ones - watermelons are the greatest tho)

Milk and cheese are the worst for me. Even as a baby I couldn't drink milk. My friends tried to make me drink it many times as a teenager but never succeeded. Cheese is also horrible, can't touch it, can't smell it. :joker:
