View Full Version : True cases of bullying in BB UK?

I was watching some highlights videos and I think some 'bullying cases' are just slight clashes of personality, but which cases on the show do you think showed actual bullying?
Shabaz from BB7 I think it was clear he had problems and I don't think he helped himself but I think the housemates around him treated him terribly and purposefully ostracized him.
I think Sam was bullied in BB7, The way Nikki and Grace especially spoke about them was so nasty and they seemed to enjoy when Sam was upset.
Deana was clearly bullied by Conor, Arron, Ashleigh and co in BB13. She was their target from a few days in and Conor threatening to rape Deana is still absolutely disgusting.
Lotan bullied Isabelle in BB18, he tried repeatedly to make her feel isolated and worthless and he belittled her constantly.

Shahbaz BB7 is perhaps the most blatant example, pure childish behaviour from the likes of Sezer, Richard, Lisa, etc.
Both Sams in 6 and 7 were too, 6 seemed to be hated by absolutely everyone (including the public) and aside from being a bit ditzy and snooty in her Diary Rooms, it was a little confusing as to why she was so hated. I didn't even consider the transphobic overtones (I was going to say undertones but they were almost certainly overt) behind 7 at the time, but I think if we went over it with a fine-toothed comb now Grace and Nikki would be absolutely nowhere near as loved (and indeed shouldn't be :idc: overrated caricatures)
No others spring to mind, I think instances with Deana/Isabelle etc were mostly the case of them standing up to vile people, I don't necessarily agree either were bullied.

Shahbaz and bb7 Sam are the only two actual examples of bullying imo, that word gets thrown around so often when it’s just people disagreeing and rowing
Epic.

I still stand by CBB18 was just a month-long sprawl of a charmless, vapid thug committing psychological torment full of the highest passive-aggression mixed with full-on aggression towards almost everyone he lived with. Technically bullying, but several times actual abuse. Worst person I've ever seen on the show.
Along with this, I'd still agree with the mention of Shahbaz, Isabelle, Jale and Jodie that others have pointed out (I don't think Deana was by a lot of people though, I'd really only consider bullying of her to come from Conor and to a lesser extent Arron, while the rest of the insiders were just rude to her really). I would also point out in BB15 when Helen took a very minor joke as a personal attack and followed Matthew into the garden to get in his face was the most physically uncomfortable I felt watching a scene from the civilian version (in addition to the time she outed Ashleigh as a backstabber in the garden in front of everyone and forced an argument out of her and then afterwards Helen said "I couldn't have been bullying her because I had a whole crowd of people there to speak up if I took it too far" :skull:).
I also think Gerry very much bullied Charley and especially Nicky in BB8 by goading them into arguments in bringing up personal matters all the time at them and generally rising things to an aggressive point with them when there wasn't much need to be, which would often lead to THEM being villainised for how they would react to HIS actions. Another easy bottom 5 housemate choice of mine.
Outside of that, there's many times individuals were mistreated but I couldn't consider it enough to call it bullying. This is including but not limited to, Alexandra DeGale was often cited as one of the biggest bullies to ever be on the show, but really she was just a rude person defensive about everything, who I did dislike but I didn't think she was really as bad as the other people I mentioned.

I apply bullying more to when it's done to the person's face. The definition of the word is to intimidate someone and she never said that to the recipient. It's unacceptable language, but i don't consider that what bullying is

Jodie (CBB4), Shahbaz (7), both Sam’s (6&7), Shilpa (CBB5), Sunshine (11), Lauren (13), Hazel (14), Jale (15) & Kay (18) are a few that spring to mind for me (although I’m sure there’s plenty more cases in terms of CBB)

I never even thought of CBB but yeah I agree that Jodie and Shilpa were bullied. I'm not sure she was actually bullied on the show but after I think Coleen bullied Kim Woodburn on Loose Women too.
Epic.

I think it was bullying when Nicola was laughing at Kim nearby while Kim was crying during nominating

Try rewatching bb6 & bb7 Nicky , there was some very uncomfortable childish & very vile and nasty behaviour.
Roberto got food and a toilet brush shoved in his box in a task in BB6 , Science got his food violated . Maxwell was a filthy sleazeball .:yuk: .
And in BB7 Susie was bullied by grace and her mean girls ,just because she nominated Grace& Nikki . Susie was even cooking dinner for everyone, and she even asked grace if the food is OK for her . And Grace and her little gang were mocking Susie behind her back:bored: .

I mean I suppose there's an argument that Katie Hopkins bullied Perez as she deliberately tried to isolate him.
Imo that year had quite a few instances of actual bullying. I'd say Alicia was bullied by Cami-Li (not really Katie she just didn't like her) and Perez bullied Alexander.

Both of the worst cases of bullying was in BB7.
Worst case of CBB bullying strangely happened in the same house months later

If bb7 aired today Nikki wouldnt be loved. The way she got away with being outwardly transphobic towards Sam..
Helen bullied quite a few people and the public awarded her by making her the winner of bb15.. then she went on to pull the same sh!t a year later

Can't believe she wasn't thrown out for saying Brian looked like a rapist, people have been kicked out for less than that

What I've noticed is some housemates get huge passes :suspect: :bored: .
Surely they should either all get the same rules or just don't bother atall . Didn't Chantelle get a million warnings with no reprocussions aswell? . Utterly pathetic .

I seem to remember one of Chanelle's "pranks" of leaving food on the floor caused Rebecca to trip, break her arm and require a temporary arm cast o__O. As much a fan I was of Chanelle, she did get away with an awful lot regarding physically threatening behaviour (even if it was usually out of impulse by her rather than malice), but was kept around just for being arguably the biggest character of that series really.
But she wasn't the only subject of this on Channel 5. Helen and Bear both got numerous warnings, it being revealed after the show that half of them didn't even air, which unlike Chanelle, was actually far worse imo because those two were being warned for behaviour that relates to this thread - bullying types of behaviour.

Lmao I forgot about the Chanelle thing, no wonder Rebecca hated her so much when she got out of the house and found out who did it... And yeah c5 had a hard on for protecting its ‘big characters’ even when they broke the rules. TBT when Gemma and Daniella broke out the house TWICE and all the producers did was convince them to stay. I think the only one of them who ever actually got punished was Lewis f.

Yeah her goading him and trying to get a reaction (I’m assuming she expected him to hit her or something) by saying he looked like a a ‘murderer/rapist’ and calling him a ‘psycho’. She was also pretty horrid to Aisleyne and Nikki in that season iirc lol

In hindsight it is problematic. However Nikki got away with it because many viewers would have acted the same way. If BB7 happened today Nikki would never have acted the way she did.

She's just a horrible, nasty person through to the bone. She was awful to Jale as well, that was proper school yard bullying type behavior, giving her an insulting nickname, leaving the room when she walked in etc What a travesty people actually voted her to win

Hearing all this just makes me glad the show has been AXED , good riddance ! .
If they can't treat every housemate the same then what's the point, I hate favouritism and protecting big characters. Clearly they care more about ratings than anything else.

Lisa & co towards Freddie in BB10, they weren't happy until they broke him down which by week 9 they'd finally succeeded at doing.
Shahbaz and Sam from BB7 also had it really bad.
Sam BB6 had it rough by Lesley too.

I don't think this is quite true. By the time Kris left, the group were already getting on with Freddie a lot better, and he didn't clash properly with anyone ever again up until the new housemates arrived and heavily implied to him how popular he is. Then he's the one who got cocky, and developed behaviour I found just as bad as any of the worst things Lisa did to him; following her in the kitchen yelling "NA NAAA, LISA'S UP FOR EVIC-TIOOOON!" and taunting her that her yelling at him made him feel as though she was sexually pleasurising him, none of it was a great look lol, and he brought his eviction upon himself with this heightened arrogance that carried over for his last two weeks, and he had a creepy fixation on Bea as well.

The group were only being nice to him because he was popular and Freddie knew that.
Imo his stuff that he said to Lisa weren't as bad as the mocking, ridiculing, and even being nasty towards him for being happy when he survived against Sophia.
The group even encouraged Bea to be nasty to Freddie to get a reaction out of him imo.

He deserved to stand up for himself and say that to horrid Lisa. Also Davina should have been harsher in Lisa's interview. However Freddie was against Marcus wasn't he when he got evicted? I liked Freddie but would have been happy if Marcus went on to win but of course the public went with SAFE SOPHIE.
Bea was the worst of them all!!! At least Freddie knew from the let go that Lisa and others didn't like him but Bea just used and abused Freddie. Total sociopath. If BB10 didn't have enough unlikeable housemates already then comes along Bea the most unlikeable vile person ever!

What's frustrating is Freddie probably would of WON  , but the idiot ruined it all by acting like a total arrogant desperate tool around Bea . And he got wayyy too cock sure.
He got way too needy with Bea ,and she was vile AF :yuk: and she clearly was using him and she enjoyed spitting him back out .
Freddie was too full of himself and silly for his own good . it's ashame as he could of gone down in history BB of surviving the most evictions by being so popular, not many housemates can take that title . He could of worn it like a badge of honour.

Tbf it can be both, Helen and Pauline were horrible to Jale, but Jale did also look to be a victim at every opportunity which is a valid strategy to use, but it makes me have less sympathy for her personally when she's trying to claim that people like Chris were bullying her.

Oh Freddie definitely blew his game up, but I think that he mentally had broken by the time he was evicted.
