The KNVB reportedly wants a new head coach in place for the international matches next month and has failed with a move for Frank Rijkaard.

According to De Telegraaf, Frank de Boer has now come into view at the KNVB, and talks are planned with the former Ajax, Inter Milan, Crystal Palace, and Atlanta United boss.

The KNVB wants to accelerate their search and De Boer could quickly be appointed if the talks are successful.

De Boer has previously been assistant to Bert van Marwijk with the national team, but could now get the chance to coach Oranje himself. At the weekend, De Boer was asked about the position by FOX Sports, and responded, “I think it is a great honour if you can be the national coach of this country. Besides prime minister, it is perhaps the most important job in the Netherlands.”
