Ignore it most of them are trying to trick you into downloading "their" software which will probably contain keyloggers or other nasty stuff. Take a screencap:thumbs:

Ignore them all, turn your pop-up blocker on, and make sure you throughly scan your system to check for any nasties :)

Change your homepage back to normal too

Get Windows Defender - it's free - http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx

Or Spybot - http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html

Or both.

The actual Spyware has been sorted, the fake spyware rubbish is still there.

My homepage wont change, and my Dad has been trying for about an hour, doing everything possible.

We think its because of this mysterious 'Security Toolbar 7.1' that has appeared, and we cant get rid of it.
Ive tried Add/Remove Programmes, tried toolbar setting etc, so if anyone has had similar trouble and if anyone knows how to get rid of this sort of stuff, please tell me.

Thanks for all your help so far

Just an update- the toolbar disappeared, and my home page returned to its normal page.

The fake balloons are still popping up- but not regularly

If you are still having problems Chris, and if you have downloaded Spybot (and you should, it's excellent), scan (make sure you update before scanning), fix anything and save the report. Spybot has a forum for problems that can't be completely fixed with spybot itself.

http://forums.spybot.info/forumdisplay.php?f=22

Read the stickies and create a thread detailing your problem. You might need to download a program called "Hijack This" first, but the forum stickies will have all the links you need. Post a thread but give it some time, these guys are busy but very good and will be able to sort you out eventually!

If you have no problems now but want greater protection for the future, you could try activating the Tea Timer that comes with Spybot (gives constant protection against home page changers etc,) or do a google search for Spy Guard which does much the same. You could also try Spyware Blaster which gives added protection. Also use the "immunise" function that comes with spybot.

Hope that helps
