Didn't even know they were making it. Loved all the games though so fingers crossed that translates to the big screen.

It's a terrible casting. He's too young and clean-shaven and not "slick" enough, Nathan Drake is a cocky arsehole, that's sort of the point.

Funnily enough though, the modern Tomb Raider games are more inspired by the Uncharted games than vice versa.

Hmm not the best casting, but Tom Holland is an amazing actor and was impressive in The Devil All the Time. I'm looking forward to it nonetheless.

He really is too young looking to be Nathan Drake.

Nathan Fillion i would've rather seen as the lead, i always see Nathan Drake's character more like a Indiana Jones rather than a Lara Croft, Fillion fits the role better than Holland
i also know he got some bit of dry humour either (i know this via Castle)
....I was going to say that Angelina was the same age as Tom when she played Lara Croft...but Lara Croft was essentially a 24yr old being played by a then 24yr old actress...?...Nathan Drake, I’ve just read, is 40yrs old and being played by a 24yr old...?..that’s interesting as well because hasn’t it often been the thing that female roles are more played by younger females...?...obviously that doesn’t apply to all roles but ‘action guys’ for instance, can be played by much older male actors...James Bond being a perfect example...not really significant of anything, I’m just thinking...

This isn’t even the worst casting of the film. Mark Wahlberg is Sully.

Gerard Butler would be good as Nathan Drake looks very similar and I'm sure I read somewhere his look was based on GB.

He's 40 in the last game he appeared in but in the others he's in his late 20's, 30's I believe.
It's an interesting thing you've pointed out though, there's a lot of other actors who have the look to play Nathan Drake, some of which are bigger than Tom Holland and would have probably cost the same but they went with Tom. Maybe they're hoping for a long franchise that he'll grow alongside with?

...yeah that’s what I was thinking as well...if the actor they chose was older/looked older etc and this is intended to be a long running franchise...?...would they start to look too aged for the character...so choosing an actor who has a young appearance does have some sense to it as well...It’s also a lot more uncertain in movie making atm of the length of time between each Nathan Drake movie and that could be a lot longer than it would have been before COVID...

Maybe they're hoping for a long franchise that he'll grow alongside with?Canonically he was born in 1976 making him 30 in Uncharted (set in 2006), 33 - 34 (2009-2010) for Uncharted 2 and 3, and 40 for Uncharted 4 (begins at the end of 2015)...
...in the games he looks bang on those ages really, early 30's in the first 3 games and a bit older in the last one.
Tom is baby-faced even for his age, and he's nowhere near 30 . He quite convincingly plays a teenage Peter Parker. It's a really odd choice IMO unless they're specifically making the character younger for unknown reasons. They can't possibly be claiming he's 30 :joker:
That said some of the other suggestions I see going around go too far the other way and are too old. "Still young but definitely a grown-up" is the required look. The 5-o'clock-shadow is practically an iconic part of the Nathan Drake look... I don't think Tom Holland has started shaving yet [emoji38]

Could be a good thing, will give him time to age ready for maybe a second movie that will be the first game? (This is a prequel so he is meant to be a bit younger..)
As I imagine there will be 4 years in timing between the time of a second movie (if there is one) shooting, and Tom will be almost 30 then which I think Drake is around 30 in the first game?

I'm interested to see how Tom Holland portrays Nathan Drake.
And hopefully the Film will be better than Uncharted 4 which just lost any sense of fun and adventure that the first three Games had imo.

I personally preferred 4 to 3
I think I’d rank them: 2 > 1 > 4 > 3 for me
Although all were great, although 2 at the time was one of the greatest games ever imo

I found 3 a major let-down after 2 honestly... both story and gameplay (unhelmeted human enemies taking multiple gunshots to the head and still running around is massively immersion-breaking).
I still haven't played 4...

Fair enough.:)
I personally found 3 more fun than 4 despite it's flaws.
The first 2 Games are the best I agree with you on that.
