View Full Version : NHS worker punched & thrown from Tube train/confronted passengers for no masks...
An NHS worker has had his eye socket broken in three places after being thrown from a London Underground train when he confronted three passengers for not wearing masks.
The health service employee was also punched repeatedly during the attack, which occurred after he pointed out that it was a breach of coronavirus restrictions for the trio – two men and a woman – not to be in face coverings.
One of the group struck the victim several times before throwing him off the train and onto the platform at High Street Kensington station.
He also suffered a chipped jaw.
The three stayed on board as the train departed.
The incident – which occurred at 10pm on Saturday 3 October – only came to light on Tuesday night after British Transport Police released pictures of a man they say they want to speak to in connection with the attack.
He is white with short blond hair and wearing a suit. He was described as carrying an umbrella.
Figures released on Monday show almost 500 people have been fined in London for not wearing face coverings on public transport.
Enforcement officers had also stopped about 113,000 people from getting on public transport services until they put on a face mask, while 1,800 were removed from services.

I didn’t mention either of their political leanings did I? I said people refusing to wear masks probably do so because of all the disinformation and propaganda being thrown out there by the right wing conspiracy theorists, which, imo, is the only place anti-mask, anti-lockdown rhetoric is coming from.
I hope he recovers and gets the justice he deserves.

i'm not thinking like that of any anti-lockdown, anti-masker people, but just them being more dumb if you oppose those things what are important for your health in a dangerous pandemic (and no LT i am not fearmongering, i am just not underestimating this virus)

They have the Punks Photo
so they will get him.
Unless he walks into a police station.
it's a matter of perspective and common decency. If anyone passes comment you can make your disagreement clear by discussion, you don't do someone grievous bodily harm to make your point. It's really got nothing to do with masks ...

I must be, as I don't think locking down is the answer, it was in March, but not now..
still wearing my mask and if I see someone not wearing one, i wouldn't confront them as they have their own choice
when I do pipe up is when someone gets too close to me, like the man last week in Marks, I was putting my card in my purse, and he moved forward and stood beside me at the payment till, so I asked him to step back until I was finished, and he accused me of being rude :skull:
I just walked off some of these people just want an argument :fist:

No, those figures are for when both people are wearing masks, unless you're talking about properly fitted medical grade masks which no one should be wearing outside of a healthcare environment.

:umm2: no, i see that on the boxes of the masks we got, protection up to 96%
still wearing a mask protects you more than no mask (i know you still need to be careful of course, but with a mask you are more protected for example in stores within crowded areas of that)
Proper protection requires the mask to be moulded and shaped to your face, otherwise it wont be a perfect seal. Medical masks will probable be better than your average mask, but the intention of public mask wearing was always to protect others arounf you rather than yourself

"up to" 96%, with 96% being when both you and the people you are in contact with are wearing the masks.
Yes obviously wearing a mask is better protection for yourself than not wearing one - but most of the protection is from the infected person wearing one.
The only way you'd get 90%+ protection for yourself would be wearing full PPE (medical mask, goggles, full body suit and gloves).
A lot of the rhetoric about masks being magical near-full protection is coming from the US and is a lie. If masks worked that well there would be no need for any distancing or lockdown.

Anti-maskers are scum.

Not the wearer though as we understand anyways..unless you’re wearing the top range surgical masks
Also those figures look ridiculously optimistic given that there you can fit 1/4 million (250,000) Covid19 particles on a PIN head !!!
One microbiologist recently compared us wearing the normal cheap masks to closing the farm gates to keep an ant from walking through ...
( it won’t)

you need masks, as well as social distancing and a lockdown, neither can work effectively without the other
yes you are correct about that, but these measures all help of course, so those nutjobs of anti-maskers need to keep their mouths shut, stay home and don't protest anymore what only wastes our time

Hope he gets some justice. The people that attacked him could’ve easily just explained why they were exempt (which I don’t think they were but is possible) from wearing a mask, there’s no justification for getting violent.
