It's all on the minorities this year imo, hopefully they've used their vote and wisely. It'll be a close one for sure.

Due to the uptake in voters this year as shown in some states already I think it will be Biden.
It could be closer than we expect but I'm hopeful Trump will be voted out.

I think covid will defeat trump this time around, otherwise hed have won
Economically hes been fantastic. The best thing trump has done, his reduce the number of people in povery by 4.2 million a fact totally ignored by the extreme measures of the media and voters. record jobs growth ever and lowest unemployment rate for 50 years at 3.5%. BUT covid was a disaster, not all his fault my wow there were some howlers.

He has also continued to say stupid things either in a brain fart or to grab attention or to encourage certain people to vote him in.

Some of the accusations against him seem inaccurate, the family seperation was a law brought in under obama, the border wall , lets face it every president has had 1000s of miles of borders to protect the american public.
Despite trumps rants and rhetoric , Obama deported more immigrants than ALL other US presidents put together EVER. Let that sink in. He deported 380 to 400,000 a year totalling over 2.5 million people, trump a mere 230,000 a year.

He didnt start any wars, he helped the korean man child to start to dismantle his nuclear plant, is it a bluff who knows? He didnt dismantle obamacare though he did manage to reduce the premiums that business owners simply couldnt afford. The dow jones the highest of all time and he would be a very handy ally for us in a post brexit britain

Hes not hitler, hes not putin, hes not churchill either, hes more in the berlusconi teriroty. Hes certainly warren buffett. Yes hes a narcissistic, braggadocious , flash brash new york business tycoon...Hes not interested in political correctness or political speak at all. But his tenure is not being judged correctly, its being judged by the radical angry mob on both sides
His climate change denail is held against him. But the marches to 100 million electric cars under a 5g network needs to be questioned too. these career politicans have proved too spineless to do so..thats why a gap opened up for trump. Thats why the billionaire playboy gave up his toys , his 580 company empire and his 34000 staff for 4 years....the media never even bothered to ask him this question, they were too busy judging him

i do admire he is willing to debate the toughest topics though, climate change, abortion, foreign policies, trade deals, tariffs on chinese steel, which he was 100% right over. the democrats were too scared to offend the chinese lol The chinese cant hate him that much they did a massive $737 billion deal with china and a 1.4 trillion deal with the canadians...He was spot on with trade deals and tariffs

so overall he did some good things, totally screwed up the pandemic and said a whole load of idiotic things that offended lots of people. Goodness knows why he keeps saying stupid stuff its almost like he wants to make life harder for himself

anyways may the best man win and if its Boden the best fo luck to him and america

According to the polls Biden is ahead in a lot of places so hes a clear favourite...Trump needs to win nearly all the big swing states.. florida crucially and pennsylvania , ohio, georgia
These Id say are critical for him....Biden has massive leads in his own hotspots and should win the popular vote.
Biden is a poor candidate but hes not hated like hilary and hes got almost every single news network behind him.
I must admit Im dreading a biden win because the whole green push will accelerate out of control and hit millions of working class people. The first thing that will go is the diesel car.

"Realistically" Biden should win by an easy margin in a fair and open system, and would have won in any other normal US election year. So I have voted Biden.

With a caveat - Trump is a documented cheat, has observably been taking action to influence the vote, and aside from that, an election has never been held under anything resembling the current circumstances with Covid and record numbers voting by post.

So the result is wide open and may not be "realistic" at all.

There's also a large possibility of Trump winning the electoral college with the democrats having an absolutely massive margin in the popular vote, due to ridiculous circumstances in the US that sees republican states with 750,000 voters having the same voting power as Dem states with 30+ million :idc:.

I honestly think though that if a president sits in the whitehouse having lost the popular vote by 10+ million votes, which is very possible, that is a HUGE constitutional crisis for the United States. It's not a sustainable system and the country could no longer be considered a functioning democracy without electoral reform.

I know every one loves me talking about the betting odds, but it's pretty telling that almost 60% of the bets placed are for Trump to win, against Biden's just under 30%. Yet the bookies still have Biden as favourite, not clear favourite, but favourite nonetheless.

All of my understanding of politics says that he SHOULD win by a landslide and yet I don't trust that he will... and really, that says a lot about the effect Trump has had on politics going way beyond his actual presidency. He's made chaos, unpredictability and political trolling business as usual, and any solid belief in a fair system seem like a fairy tale.

Biden probably won't do anything dramatic with his presidency if he wins, especially since he's running on a unification, bipartisan platform. He'll probably right the boat which is good enough, but sadly, unless the Senate changes dramatically, he likely won't have the power to make some sweeping changes that need to be made.

The best we can hope for atm, is that he would put things back on track.

the dems have a pretty good chance to take control of the senate. They need to net gain 3 or 4 seats depending on who becomes president.

They need a president that steadies the ship, protects the population from covid both health wise and economically, and returns normality to foreign relations. Even that is quite a bit to do

Even if Biden wins, Trump has pavlov'd his supporters into thinking covid is a hoax, or it's the flu, and masks are a conspiracy. It needs republicans to try and speak some truth, but unfortunately they'll be more likely to keep inflaming that rage.

Heavy civil unrest, sure. Civil war in any meaningful form can't really occur in the US with a democrat win, because the large cities are heavily democrat, the military won't split, and it's not the 1800's - civilian firepower is a joke compared to US military equipment. It's not rifle-on-rifle in a field, it's a Walmart AR15 vs a drone that can kill you from kilometers in the air without you even knowing it was there.

Angry people rioting in the streets is not civil war.

Bernie is the better politician with the better progressive policies, but he wouldn’t never have won the election, because unlike with Biden the socialist scare tactics would actually stick to him and alienate a large proportion of the independent vote away from him, a Bernie lead America would be an absolute dream, but it was never a realistic scenario

I’d like to be wrong but I think it’s going to be close, and I wouldn’t be surprised if Trump won at all. In fact, I spent most of the primaries thinking it was a forgone conclusion. Joe Biden is another establishment candidate, the DNC seemed once again obtuse to where the electorate actually are. But I think the pandemic has done the Democrats a world of favours, and may well tip the balance - time will tell. Don’t count out “shy Trumpsters” though, I think that’s definitely a thing as it is here with the Tories.

Make no mistake, if it’s a close race there will be an almighty mess.

I still Biden will win it, but it’s a damn joke the Democratic had 4 years to get an absolute idiot out of office and it looks like they’ve struggled to this extent.

If it wasn’t Trump, I would almost want them to lose just so they could blow up the whole party and build new.

Based on some of the random interviews I saw when watching last night, I agree. An awful lot of people aged around 28 - 40 clearly indicating that they dislike Trump as a person but vote Red for economic reasons. As soon as I saw a fairly articulate young adult basically say "I hate Trump but for financial reasons I can't vote Democrat" it put a massive question mark on the whole election, and that was quite early on.

tbh Trump can mock Biden about his basement, but Biden thinks more of his health, and also is aware of the dangers of covid-19, so makes a better leader amid covidcrisis, i think so

Yes like a toddler.

Both are in their 70's and actually Biden is clearly in better physical health than Trump.

He was looking very, very tired in clips last night.

I honestly think there should be an upper age limit of 62 for presidents running for their first term (so a two-term president would be at most 70 on LEAVING office).

Yes, I think realistically he will only be able to do one term.

that's ok, then Kamala can do it the second term (i mean most Biden voters vote for Kamala now anyway, since if Biden is no longer capable to be president she takes over, which is a very interesting strategic vote)

IF Biden was to win the only route to Kamala being president is if she was to take over during his first term, in which case she would stand a good chance of being re-elected for the second term because sitting presidents have a clear advantage. She wouldn't win as a brand new candidate.

Georgia and Pennsylvania are 50/50 and will go to the wire but the votes that are yet to be counted are early votes which favour Biden massively

if the president dies there is no obligation to then install the VP. The party would decide who the next president would be

Biden has a lead of about 7000 votes in Wisconsin when i last checked so that doesnt rank as a certainty in my book

Its due to the mail in votes and the percentage Biden is winning them by which at the minute is as high as 80%

If mail-ins swing several states Trump (and more notably, Trump supporters) will almost certainly cry foul play. It'll get very, very messy.

its all very messy because many states are counting the mail ins last, which is why Bidens numbers come up as time goes on ... Thats why Trump wants them halted.

Had Bernie been the candidate, I don’t think this would be as close as it is, he probably would’ve won :(

Yeah I liked Bernie and this is what I keep wondering , I really wish Bernie was in the race . This would of been his last chance too :(

Bernie is too left for the current US, he simply couldn't win. Maybe in a few decades time. I think the US *is* slowly beginning to tire of the healthcare situation and in general will soon want some form of affordable or universal healthcare - dirty dirty socialism!

I reckon an AOC presidency is possible at some point if she shifts slightly to the right/pragmastism over time (likely).

But not now.

if they do that, they show themselves as very bad losers

most of Biden voters preferred mail-ins out of safety for covid-19 which is just being smart

so it being a close call now on normal votes alone, makes me think Biden might still edge it

FFS Trump has slid out to 3/1. Should have waited. Or not bet at all.

In fact I should have bet Biden when he was 2/1 and had a guaranteed profit :fist:. I wasn't keeping a close eye on this until quite late last night though... I was planning on ignoring it completely until the result was in but my wife wanted to put the live results on telleh last night and I got sucked right in. Damnit.

I bottled it and cashed out about 10 minutes ago :joker:, got back 3/4 of what I staked, seconds later he went 4/1 (/...!) so I re-bet a tiny bit that will still net a slight overall profit if he does win.

This was wild. I watched these political events from the other side of the bookies table for nearly 10 years and I've never seen a flip like that in such a short space of time. Holy ****.
