View Full Version : The news is just designed for sheep.
Do you agree?
The only thing to take covid off the news is an election that concerns us as much as Pakistan or Canada.

I could regurgitate the things we're force fed on a daily basis by the news, and I can guarantee you'd agree with the majority of them.

People only care so much this time because it's Trump. The media paints him as a monster who must be toppled, and they claim this is the most important election ever  If both candidates in the race were as boring as Biden it'd just be a mild point of interest, but having a living cartoon character in the running makes it newsworthy.

Yet some are hooked by america.:shrug:The election in the US doesn't affect us when we're weeks from Brexit and will soon be trying to renegotiate every aspect of our global trade, and when our own culture and politics has closely mirrored the US for decades?
Other then elections in the UK itself, there's no election that affects us MORE. And there is flat out no election at all that has a bigger impact on global politics.

A Trump loss would signal to the world that maybe the tide is changing, and that perhaps maybe we can go back to normal (not referring to COVID)

i think this is the key point in it all

Indeed, it would be a strong signal that being unprofessional and disrespectful on a daily basis is actually a quick way to be shown the door, and not something that now just gets overlooked.

Oh yeah, the US election doesn't affect us at all, it's not like we're about to tumble out of the EU without a deal or anything and will be looking towards the US to provide us with one.

Brexiteers will argue that Trump would give the better deal not realising that he's too chaotic for it to be worth gambling on. Trump will offer the world and then snatch it back because we didn't support him on [insert any 1 of a hundred diplomatic issues here], and when looking for a secure trade deal, that's utterly useless.

They also think that when we leave the EU, the waves will answer to the UK and most of the world will be like 'okay, I guess we'll let you rule over us again! Bring back the empire!'
The election in the US doesn't affect us when we're weeks from Brexit and will soon be trying to renegotiate every aspect of our global trade, and when our own culture and politics has closely mirrored the US for decades?

When biden wins his mind will solely be on the health of his winning majority.

Exactly
People forget it very much affects us all ! , and hopefully if Biden wins this election then maybe just maybe they'll be a bit of hope for things as the tide turns .
...there is obviously a sheep/herd mentality with news/media because it’s so reflective of social media and that can be a huge cultivation of it...we always hear about social media campaigns and cancels etc.../...where these platforms lead, ‘news’ media follows...so that’s already begun the sheep mentality, I think...and then it continues down and around and around etc...but it isn’t just ‘one flock of sheep’, though...with many not always seeing or believing in their own flock, only seeing others...
