Had any thoughts about what you will do, accepting that current (not lockdown) restrictions (tier 3 most likely) will be in play?

watching Willkommen 2021, the sylvester music year end show again on German TV

this years edition made corona proof, with a reduced audience & lots of quick testing for crew and any music artists, presenters involved, still live music performances, and anyone who doesn't want to attend at brandenburg tor, they can watch it on tv

also good for the german people who still want some luck in 2020, with their national lottery

Pretty much this. Last year, we all had really bad colds (corona :nono:) so didn't even have a drink or make it past midnight

It was always a **** night out anyway, queues for the toilet, the bar, the pubs/clubs, having to pay to get in everywhere. Never liked it even when I did go out

Same old same old.
But if everything is shut down we may have family guests, depending on lockdown situation.

Usually just watch whatever music thing the bbc jas on and switch between that and jools holland. Then watch the fireworks on bbc. But none of that will happen this time. Might just go to bed at the usual time

Same thing we do every year; sneak the clocks forward gradually starting at 9pm so that it's "midnight" for the kids at 11pm, say happy new year, pack them off to bed, then put the clocks back and have a cosy new year at actual midnight :joker:.

Netherlands: heavy police presence for New Year as Fireworks Ban may spark trouble

sparklers as these will not be banned

Almost twice as many police officers will be on duty during the New Year festivities than in a normal year and some have had leave cancelled to ensure there is enough manpower on the streets, broadcaster NOS said on Friday.

Although the number of police on duty will vary from place to place, in Amsterdam the number of officers will be doubled compared to last year, Amsterdam police chief Frank Paauw told local broadcaster At5. It will be a difficult night, Paauw said, because there are no alternatives for parties.

‘The atmosphere may turn explosive because people feel they have been done out of their New Year’s celebrations.’

Unlike Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Utrecht, however, have no plans to increase the number of police officers on duty, RTL Nieuws reported. In particular, the firework ban, upheld by judges earlier on Friday, may drive trouble, police officers say.

The police asked the cabinet to include so-called children’s fireworks, such as sparklers, in this year’s ban in order to make policing easier, spokesman Ruud Verkuijlen has told Nu.nl in an interview. The situation on the streets would be a calmer one, Verkuijlen said, because it would be clear that all fireworks are illegal.

Justice minister Ferd Grapperhaus had briefed MPs earlier that the use of F1 fireworks, which is the lightest category, ‘cannot be limited in EU member states because the safety risks are low’.

Initial thoughts are can’t wait for this year to be over and NYE is over rated expensive and really best left to the under 30s :hee:
