[The UK military is to receive an extra £4bn a year
over the next four years, the government has said.
The money will fund space and cyber defence
projects such as an artificial intelligence agency,
and could create 40,000 new jobs.
Defence Secretary Ben Wallace said "letting go"
of older weapons would create "headroom to invest".
The Ministry of Defence's annual budget
is around £40bn, so the £16.5bn over four years
is about a 10% increase.]
Good News
it means more Jobs,
Scarlett.

Feeding kids is a no, but spunking money on missiles is a massive yes.
...isn’t this just within a day or two of announcing that foreign aid would possibly not happen because of COVID costs ....so maybe it wasn’t COVID costs but military costs, hmmmmmmm....

And yet there are still countless people living on the streets through poverty
The world is very unpredictable at the moment and we need to be able to defend ourselves. It's a very sensible decision

The 22 countries that escaped Britain’s invasion are Monaco, Mongolia, Marshall Islands, Mali, Luxembourg, Liechtenstein, Kyrgyzstan, Ivory Coast, Andorra, Bolivia, Belarus, Democratic Republic of Congo, Burundi, Central African Republic, Guatemala, Chad, Paraquay, Vatican City, Tajikistan, Sweden, Uzbekistan and Sao Tome and Principle.
So you still have some fun play to do...

Defend ourselves from who? We're surrounded by Europe, Scandinavia and America. I think we're in one of the safest corners of the world.

I'm not usually against spending on defence.
However, this is a strange time to be announcing this new programme of funding.
I think there's a great deal more urgent need of funds within the UK particularly during this pandemic and post the pandemic too.
So think this move not appropriate at this moment in time.
