People never lump her along with Whitney, Moo Moo, Madonna or Celine and so on yet she's arguably one of the best female singers around and she's released amazing albums year after year

Someone said that Britney was the Princes of Pop in that other thread, I thought Kylie always had that title actually

One of only a handful of foreign talents who is actually seen as a British icon

She never managed to break America like those did which is probably why she isn't held in the same esteem although I'd easily say that her catalogue of music is far better theirs'.

There's also a strong element of ageism and sexism, I think. It's rare for female artists over the age of 40 to have the same dominance they did in their younger years and it's not always down to a decline in the quality of music. They'll typically do well in the album charts but when was the last time you heard any of Kylie's Disco singles on the radio?

tbf, Magic and Say Something both got a lot of airplay and charted highly in sales charts (which still means something since the main ones are dominated by 16 year old boys never changing their Spotify playlists from Headie One, Drake and Travis Scott)

Shes always been in Kim's shadow, I agree that she deserves more recognition.

she has never been a particularly good singer, not a prerequisite for success, but it does have some impact. The most important thing she has for me is that she is a thoroughly nice person, a trait highly underrated

She is a lovely person i like her ! but could never listen to her 'sing' cos i really don't like her 'voice'

Way too whinney with no depth so she's never rated for me . I do like her as a person just wish she'd stop 'singing'

She’s not the greatest of singers to be brutally honest. Many you mentioned above are probably regarded as great singers vocally

I agree with what Dezzy said tbh about not managing to break the US like the other artists that were mentioned. I think it’s always difficult for European artists (or in Kylie’s case an Aussie - Brit) to break America so imo those that never really mange to do it are never going to be put amongst that category of Madonna’s/ Britney’s etc.

I do remember finding some of Kylie’s songs quite cheesy but she also has quite a lot of good hits to make up for it and she does come across as one of the nicer pop stars so whilst I’m not a huge fan of her music, I do like her as a person.
