We open our presents in the morning, but my husband's family and him have this weird thing of opening them on Christmas Eve as if they're some kind of psychopaths.
So obviously I got what I wanted and we open our presents on Christmas day right before breakfast.

I think that’s a very European thing. When I go to family in Austria for Christmas they always do presents on Christmas Eve

isnt the actual point of christmas day to open presents, hence the reason forn the day and why the next day is boxing day
christmas eve is called eve because its the day before you open presents
i mean who opens birthday presents the day before?

We just go with the flow.
We don’t rush xmas dinner, either the cooking of it or the eating of it.
Kids always opened their stockings before they came downstairs when they were actual kids.
We will probs open presents before the dinner as we don’t eat early.

This year we will just go with the flow , i have no idea what time we will be eating ~ when its ready !
Not organized what time my daughter will be coming or if she's eating with us but we do open presents when she arrives.
I really don't have any expectations of anything this year and i'll be glad when its over.
we open presents when everyone is awake on christmas day, and i have my first dram off the day in hand

We don't really open presents all together... we all wake up at different times and pretty much open stuff whenever that is.

We open as soon as my son is awake.....the last few years I've been going round slamming doors and flushing the toilet at 7am to wake him up as I'm just too excited

It was always a tradition in my family that on Christmas eve, we'd open one gift.
That applied to whoever was with us for Christmas.
Always my Mum, my Dad and myself.
Then Christmas day, usually after breakfast, the remaining presents would get opened by all in the house..
If my Brothers children were staying too, then obviously they opened theirs as soon as the got up.
The usual tradition after that, was some relatives who we were to see over Christmas, would head to us on boxing Day, when we'd exchange their gifts to us and ours to them on boxing Day.
Myself, my Mum and My Dad when he was alive, then used to have another gift for each other which we handed over on New Year's Eve, just as the year ended and the new one began.
So rather a mixed set of traditions there as to my family.
Our view being Christmas STARTS on Christmas day, not ends.
There's 12 days of Christmas as the song goes.
Obviously this year it's going to be all different in the main however.
Just finished off buying presents for people today, relaxie time now.
You always feel relief when you've got it all done.
I'l nip out next week to get my food and booze.

My grans staying on Christmas eve so me my mum dad and gran will open presents in the morning and then eat breakfast
More presents when my gran and grandpa come round then we have our dinner
And then my sister brother in law and wee niece come over after dinner
Our kids have flown the nest but we used to let them open the stocking fillers on Xmas eve before bed ... then all the main presents on Christmas morning but we always kept a couple back to open on Boxing Day morning ..

One thing we did when they were getting older (and knew the truth about Santa !) was to not decorate the house apart from a huge ‘real’ xmas tree but as soon as they’d gone to bed Xmas eve we both spent hours decorating the downstairs area so it looked like a winter wonderland as soon as they came down the stairs Christmas morning ..
They loved the idea ..

We open gifts at midnight of the 25th, so we celebrate mostly on the 24th, the 25th is just a day where we chill and spend time together and wear new clothes that we were given as gifts the day before.
