Let's hope the Republican rats actually do the right thing, this time. I don't think they will, though.

More impeachments than terms in office
Only 10 of 207 Republicans voted to impeach, that's less than 5% That says the Republican party stand with Trump.

It was never in doubt he would go down in presidential history as a failure and a laughing stock but this sure helps solidify it.

Republicans are in a tough 50/50 now. Do they vote to acquit and allow everyone to brand them terrorist sympathisers and insurrectionists for the foreseeable future, or do they take the hit and potentially cut away a huge part of their base that are dumb enough to still support Trump?
The best bet would probably be the latter, although the republicans will want to completely destroy everything about Trump to the point it torpedoes his family's chances of election. If a Trump runs in 2024 as an independent candidate then that will likely screw the Republicans' chances. They'll want to kill the Trumps' political ambitions completely in one fell swoop, and that will probably mean that, if they impeach, you'll see them pursue criminal charges against his kids and Jared Kushner as well.
It'll be interesting to see how the democrats would decide to act in that situation, since a third party Trump candidate would not hurt their hold one bit.

It's actually the most bipartisan impeachment in history.

McConnell said off the record yesterday he was happy about the impeachment because it gives them a chance to wash the stain of trump off them, so i don't think he would have said that if he wasn't looking to convict.

You heard what Trump said last week, after he said that "there will be an orderly transition" he said "It's just the beginning"
Trump usually delivers on his promises.

But i'd trust him to act on that as far as I could throw him, plus we don't know how many Republicans will side with Trump over Mitch.
The best thing Republicans could do now is to impeach, bleed for a few years and rebuild as a more moderate party. I don't think that last thing will likely happen though, there's too much lobbying money in sucking off the Evangelicals.
Still haven't seen any incitement from Trump, anybody found anything for me yet? You keep saying it's true, you must have seen it yourselves, this is your platform to show me the incitement by Trump?
I can find you incitement from Democrats, not that you'd be bothered.

I agree, but the fact he spoke about it at all like that leads me to believe he will convict. However, he isn't bringing the senate back till the 19th so it will be after trump has already left office, and it's basically to protect them from him running again in '24, so he's doing it in the most cowardly way possible, even to the very last.

You haven't seen anything that you understand (or are willing to admit) is incitement; you have seen the same tweets and watched the same speeches as everyone else, so you have seen it. You failing to comprehend that he doesn't have to say "I want you all to invade the capitol!" to be inciting his support base is, as always, no one else's problem.
Like I don't know why anyone would claim they can't see it in his statements and speeches. It's like holding up a sign saying "Hello I am either unfathomably dumb or annoyingly disingenuous - take your pick".
Frankly I think for most people it's both.

An impeachment conviction requires a 2/3 majority in the Senate
That’s 17 Republicans. No gimme, I’m not convinced either
I wonder if he's bought a load of postit notes, and he sticks the angriest ones around the WH.I wonder if he's got all the evidence from the election theft, and is sitting on it, making them sweat? They do seem to be sweating and panicking.
